I guess it's unclear whether the knights of the Vale stayed in the North or went back home, but either way killing Littlefinger could potentially lose the support of one of the larger armies left in the Seven Kingdoms. Or it could force them into outright rebellion against the rest of the north. Or they might not actually support Littlefinger seeing as although he's currently protector of the Vale, Robin is still alive.
