I'm not fully on board...but it has some legitimate points in regards to the current culture wars. Let's face it....he wrote this rant shortly after Lou Reed's 'Walk on the Wild Side' was called 'problematic' in it's depiction of a transperson. It probably cut deep. But he's not without some valid points.

America does not appear nor is it really fundamentally different. If I change the facade of a house but leave the foundation and initial structure it's still the same house

Can you tell me when America turned away from it's hatred for non white people? What type of ceremony or commemoration was there to show a sign of atonement for it's actions?

I disagree. They are the soft underbelly of America. If you talk about hiding and doing something or manipulating people, that's one thing but anything else, nah.
