Saw them in Houston the other week. Incredibly dope. Even they guy they brought out to sing some of the vocals didn't feel TOO out of place. Definitely recommended.

13168880, thats Stokely from Mint Condition..he was on point Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 04:07 PM

13168855, Jill Jones is fed the hell up with them Posted by CherNic, Mon Jun-26-17 02:12 PM
Apparently the credits on the new album are all jacked up, not crediting her or Appollonia or others, only Prince & The Revolution
I wouldnt know Jill Jones if she walked in my office right now but the tea is still piping hot

which is her point..thelack o credit for singing on many of those songs have lead to her being unrecognized..not for being just onstage but the new remasters unreleased songs she was part of etc

13168882, I get it. It's kinda hilarisad Posted by CherNic, Mon Jun-26-17 04:18 PM

13168891, what is she talking about? Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 05:31 PM
what songs does she claim she song on for which she didn't receive proper credit?
|
13168892, RE: what is she talking about? Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 05:33 PM
>what songs does she claim she song on for which she didn't >receive proper credit?
many on the extra unreleased disc and some on PR I think

13168894, she leaked her version of Our Destiny on vox lol Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 05:34 PM

13168903, she doesn't have anything to get here. Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 05:43 PM
if she sang backing vox she's not entitled to anything. backing vocalists get paid for their session...they don't get residuals.
so if she sang a lick on anything on PR she's ass out at this point. the most she could get is credited.
for backing vox.
on a record that's not particularly known for awesome backing vocalist performances. i mean, this ain't a Luther V or Chaka K or Aretha F or Stevie W record we're talking about here. LOL
but...naw. i don't hear Jill Jones anywhere on PR. i barely hear Lisa and Wendy on it. the Rev only appears on like 4 songs out of 9.
as for the extras added...where she at? The Dance Electric? Wonderful Ass? Our Destiny (the released version clearly has Lisa singing, not Jill J)? Roadhouse Garden? Velvet Kitty Cat? We Can Fuck?
lol
|
13168904, thats all she wants is to be credited on the remaster cause she wasnt Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 05:46 PM

13168906, she has to come w/something better than Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 05:51 PM
'i cut guide vocals for ___'.
b/c guide vocalists don't get credited.
and anyway, as i said, Prince cut his own guide vocals.
i have a recording of him singing 'Manic Monday', for example. and one w/Apollonia singing it b/c he apparently considered putting it on the Ap 6 album. Ap ain't credited on the Bangles record and she shouldn't be.
Jill needs to have a seat.
|
13168908, and she has a lot of nerve talking about credit. Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 05:54 PM
Prince gave her writing credits on almost every song on her PP album.
she didn't write NONE OF THAT SHIT. Prince wrote all of it.
she crazy.

13168905, guide. vocal. Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 05:49 PM
naw.
Prince did his guide vocals. i have the recordings.
she mad b/c Prince cut a few songs w/her on lead and banged her out on the promise that she was gonna get an album w/all of these awesome songs on it. and it didn't happen.
she DID get a Paisley Park record. i have it. she should be happy he gave her some pretty decent songs - All Day, All Night (you can hear the Revolution on it), G Spot, Baby You're a Trip...
but naw. the fact that she may have cut a few other vocals and then records came out w/those songs doesn't mean she's on those versions of those songs on any of those records.
this shit happens all the time. sadly, it especially happens w/women singers who deal w/men like Prince. hell, Sly Stone cut vocals on several songs on There's a Riot Goin On w/a number of different women singing. apparently he did it so much and erased the tapes w/those vocals so often the sound got muddy. none of those women have a claim to anything.
|
13168909, I think shes saying she is in the mix of the vocal as well Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 05:55 PM

13168912, She mad bc she got replaced by Wendy. Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 06:16 PM
She appears on a few songs on 1999. She's even in the video for the title song. Next to Lisa. 2 years later she's out and Wendy is in.
Wendy can sing backing vocals. She can play instruments. She can write. She can lead a band. Prince gave her (and Lisa) assignments to flesh out songs with extra instrumentation and shit. Jill? Not so much.
Jill hung around and watched Prince bang out several women all of whom got solo or group albums b4 she got hers. She was a longstanding side piece. She put in her time and for her effort she got a solo record with some choice cuts from the Vault. She appeared in 2 movies. She needs to have a seat.

13168928, I think it ws W&L, Bobby etc against Jill since... Posted by rdhull, Mon Jun-26-17 07:44 PM
he was dating Susannah and they were tight knit

13168911, She said App didn't get credit on Take Me With U Posted by CherNic, Mon Jun-26-17 06:07 PM

"And I vaguely recall Jerome,Wally & Brooks being called " buffoons" by a few parties annoyed & concerned about what Prince paid them.🤔"
https://twitter.com/jilldjones/status/879135472554983424
Not surprised.wendy the clever one. I recall how she called me after he died, in hindsight was that " concern" or 2 find out what I knew?
Apparently Wendy/Lisa claimed Wonderful Ass was written about twin
"Wonderful ass was written originally on the 1999 tour and gifted to Vanity. She played it non stop before the shows during that time."
|
13168914, She is crazy then. Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 06:19 PM
Bc I do recall seeing App's name in the PR album credits for vocals on that song. And everybody knows it as a duet between P and A.

13168922, She mad. Lol Posted by SoWhat, Mon Jun-26-17 07:01 PM
Like I said - she salty about not being in The Revolution - the original group or even the expanded version with 10 members (he added Susannah - another woman he banged and even 'wanted to marry' while also banging Jill and several other women). The shit is see thru.
Her record came out in 1987 and was a dud on the charts. But shit - she got 8 songs from him. And credit she didn't deserve. Lol. Still mad. Crazy.
|
13168929, I think she's right about "Wonderful Ass" though. Posted by MME, Mon Jun-26-17 07:56 PM
That song really was for Vanity originally.
