13163067, Sad, but I guess there's no saving Rudy

I didn't even like the Cosby show, but I know what it tried to represent. I am not sure if I should be dismissive, because a big part of me wants to be sad.
13163073, Its pointless to go after her really.
Posted by double negative, Tue Jun-06-17 01:34 PM
I mean, would you go after sons, daughters, mothers and fathers who stand in support of convicted rapists or murderers? Its family and you can be sure those who stand in support hold complex stances.

In no way am I making light of Cosby's actions, but, at this point shes a form of family and if you see it from that point its hard to get down on her.

13163080, ^ this. I respect her loyalty to her elder.
Posted by flipnile, Tue Jun-06-17 01:38 PM
Plus, I doubt she has any culpability or inside information into any of this.
13163074, He's kind of like her dad. To her.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jun-06-17 01:35 PM
If my dad were on trial for some shit like this I could offer him support. Publicly, even. But I'm a defense attorney. I go into the lion's den with ppl everyday. I signed up for it. So I get the impulse. Even "guilty" ppl need support.
13163077, yeah yall both summed up my thoughts on this too.
Posted by KiloMcG, Tue Jun-06-17 01:37 PM
she's not saying he's innocent, she's just being there to support someone she cares about as he goes through some shit.
13163078, Really?
Posted by rhchick, Tue Jun-06-17 01:37 PM
Do you want to give support because of your profession or the you have feelings for the person (guilty)?
13163081, imo she's supporting a person, not condoning or supporting his actions
Posted by KiloMcG, Tue Jun-06-17 01:38 PM
13163096, To me his situation is somewhat unique
Posted by rhchick, Tue Jun-06-17 01:49 PM
as these people are coming after him years later.

I'm not saying I wouldn't support him. He was like a 2nd father to her, so why not support your 'parent'.
13163114, i'm getting paid.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jun-06-17 02:09 PM
i don't do this for strangers for free. generally, at least.

but if this were my family (or 'family' or play-family) i could do what Keshia is doing.
13163095, Is there a point where you only offer private support?
Posted by Lil Rabies, Tue Jun-06-17 01:49 PM
Where the reprehensibility of a loved one's action relegates you to behind the scenes? I understand the connection they may have, but do you need to put yourself on the line and take a public hit. I mean you do, because you get paid for it. Why does she have to be the one helping him into the courtroom? Does she not understand that her at his side could possibly be a factor in sanitizing his image pre-trial? And more importantly, if that's what Bill is trying to get from her, wouldn't it be much more effective with Camille there? The whole thing smells calculated, which can also mean devious in a derogatory sense.
13163116, to my dad?
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jun-06-17 02:12 PM
or my 'dad' or my play-dad?

i don't know if there's a line. there probably is.

however, the more the ppl/the public/the police/the law come for mine the more i would WANT to defend/support them. b/c fuck all of that. that's MY ____. i know they are more than the allegations. they are more than any bad deed. i know they were there for me when i ___. and they didn't run from me when ___ turned on me.

et al.
13163119, Thanks for the response
Posted by Lil Rabies, Tue Jun-06-17 02:17 PM
I was trying to understand the mindset of a Dad I'd heard on the latest Sword and Scale podcast whose son was involved in a terrible murder of a six year old boy in Jackson, MS. I am starting to see it now.
13163134, What ep is that?

13163110, I wouldn't want my daughter there
Posted by Lil Rabies, Tue Jun-06-17 02:07 PM
at a trial where at the minimum the accused is guilty of adultery and I was supposed to represent positive values to the point of ill-advisedly attacking a an entire genre of music. Avoiding the hypocrisy there, if my daughter catches me slipping, I am not going to make it worse. Especially, if she has made some bad choices herself recently. I would be more inclined to to admit that my poor influence has made her susceptible and try to bring her to a place where she doesn't project her disappointment to the other flawed brothers out there. I would always want her to be able to see the potential in a brother that's trying.
13163125, I try to avoid discussing it....
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Jun-06-17 02:35 PM
cause see, I'm bias...

I grew up watching them...admiring that family. once my bff and I had a disagreement over how the Crosby show wasn't realistic life for black folks. I could have killed her lol.

Anyway, I think it would be a teachable moment for your daughter. Imagine, if someone you adore had a fall from grace...you think your response would be the same?

13163086, It still bugs me out to hear people say this..
Posted by silenttype, Tue Jun-06-17 01:41 PM
>I didn't even like the Cosby show..

Not that anyone was obligated to like it, but I don't remember
anyone being anywhere else on Thursday night at 8 sharp...

Until it actually DID get corny before/roundabout the cuz Pam years
13163090, Maybe he's confusing the Cosby Show with Family Matters
Posted by Binladen, Tue Jun-06-17 01:45 PM
13163102, or maybe the 4 season show of similar name, 'Cosby'

I remember being in labor but didn't want to go until it went off, lol
13163152, Family Ties....Cheers...NightCourt....then Hill Street Blues aka

ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz after
13163158, naw.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jun-06-17 04:14 PM
let's not be brand-new/contrarian.

or at least let's recognize you/y'all are outliers.

that line up kept NBC on top on Thursday nights.

Cosby, DIFFERENT WORLD, Cheers*, Night Court...those shows were the shit. even Family Ties was good. hell, i fucked w/Dear John too. and Wings (for a bit). and then LA LAW at the end.

y'all are just different. which is fine but that's what it is. millions of us were highly entertained.

*note...that's quite possibly the best sitcom ever.

13163159, what did i say wrong lol.....she asked what shows i listed em
Posted by ambient1, Tue Jun-06-17 04:20 PM
as far as my 'opinion' on the Cosby show, I didn't say nor imply anywhere in here that is a mainstream belief lol

the ZZZZZzzzzzz was in reference to Hill Street Blues specifically....

13163164, understood.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jun-06-17 04:41 PM
as a kid Hill Street Blues was boring. but my mom LOVED it. and as an adult i've seen some episodes and i kinda see what she saw in it.

13163161, Dear John was official tissue.
Posted by 13Rose, Tue Jun-06-17 04:25 PM
Thinking about watching Cheers at 9pm and the great Night Court just took me back to my dark bedroom watching those shows and just being wild happy.

13163138, I watched it like erybody else because we had no choice lol
Posted by ambient1, Tue Jun-06-17 03:05 PM
but I wasn't a huge fan....even as a lil kid

Theo was corny immediately (Compared to Willis/JJ/hell even Rog)
Vanessa....same

Denise/Rudy/Mom were ok
Cosby was Cosby

but yeah....it was like ok...this is on

never had a desire to rewatch any episode except Gordon Gartrail and 'Nite n Day/Ray Charles'

***shrugs***
13163149, I enjoyed those final corny years the most.
Posted by Teknontheou, Tue Jun-06-17 03:34 PM
13163154, I watched it when someone else was watching it.
Posted by flipnile, Tue Jun-06-17 03:48 PM
It's a good show, but it really had a "corny" edge to it that kept me from really getting into it. And that was before Olivia. Once they put her on the show I barely watched it. I preferred my toys and playing outside to watching non-cartoon TV at that age anyway.
13163168, I didn't like it then. It came on before ADW which I did like.

to draw parallels to all types of hot button issues in attempts to get people to bash her. Let the facts speak for themselves...

It's actually comical how much he's trying to connect her actions to stuff most people know, and actually care about. I wonder if he does this in all his articles.

13165939, Jurors in Bill Cosby's trial say they are deadlocked (SWIPE)
Posted by Teknontheou, Thu Jun-15-17 01:08 PM
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/15/us/bill-cosby-trial-verdict/index.html

(CNN)Jurors in the Bill Cosby trial said Thursday they are deadlocked and cannot come to a unanimous consensus on any of the three counts of aggravated indecent assault the comedian faces.

Judge Steven O'Neill asked the jury, which began deliberating Monday evening, to go back to deliberating in another attempt to reach consensus.
"I am required to read you an instruction. The jury foreman has informed me that you are deadlocked," O'Neill said. "If you are still deadlocked you should report that to me. If you've reached a unanimous decision on some of the charges, please report that back to me."

Posted by Seven, Thu Jun-15-17 11:04 PM
One of my childhood friends got charged with physically assaulting his son's aunt. I found out after the fact that he was also abusing his kid's mom. I was in court by his side.
His girl was there giving me her side of the story during a recess with tears in her eyes. We're not close anymore but I'd offer the same support again.

Support doesn't equal condoning.
