First, his immortality is only significant to Christian ideology because of his triumph over death.

The general basis of Christianity is that He lived as man, died as a spotless sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and resurrected as a triumph over death.

That suffering is celebrated not from some morbid sense but from the standpoint of reflecting on the weight of that sacrifice.

There's no way you don't understand this.
