13134358, i guess this snow storm is actually going to happen?
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:06 PM
i barely pay attention to all the frantic, extra energy
becuz i find it fake and extra
and dont care for the news manipulating me

but since NYC DOE closed schools tomorrow already
WHICH I AM PROUD OF AND LOVING BTW
i guess this is a real thing?

thank God my fridge stays decked
i think we have salt from the last time
but that isnt my concern cuz i dont shovel
i do have hot chocolate and snacks on deck for those who do LOL

are you prepared though?
13134359, it's already happening here.

13134361, see that's the energy i like to avoid LOL
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:10 PM
people lose their minds!
13134365, i'd like to avoid all of it by moving out West.
Posted by SoWhat, Mon Mar-13-17 12:12 PM
13134369, well i guess earthquakes have no preparation time LOL!
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:12 PM
im cool on earthquakes though
no thanks.
13134372, earthquakes are nothing.
Posted by SoWhat, Mon Mar-13-17 12:16 PM
they don't occur w/the frequency of snow storms. the overwhelming majority of them happen w/o anyone feeling them. they're not anything about which to worry.

but they keep ppl from wanting to move out there which is good b/c otherwise the joint would be ridiculously overcrowded. if ppl really knew how awesome Southern California is...for real...it'd be as crowded as Mexico City or Tokyo.
13134364, Chicago and the midwest
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Mar-13-17 12:10 PM
is getting one of the two storms that'll hit the East Coast late Monday night /early Tuesday morning. One storm from the midwest merging with another from the southern east coast.

Fun times.
13134682, Ennh. I got good boots and a nice coat.
Posted by Shogun, Tue Mar-14-17 09:33 AM
as long as my music player is charged for the commute, I'm good. I never complain.

13134360, unfortunately, i don't think it's gonna make its way down to us.
Posted by KiloMcG, Mon Mar-13-17 12:09 PM
and even less a chance it makes it to where i work, which is in schools. i could go for a day or two off.
13134376, LOL where are you located?
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:18 PM
13134378, Richmond VA
Posted by KiloMcG, Mon Mar-13-17 12:19 PM
13134380, oh yeah, you good.
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:22 PM
what's it like in richmond now?
i used to follow this blog that made me think it was abt to get really "gentrified"
13134386, no, that is not good! haha
Posted by KiloMcG, Mon Mar-13-17 12:26 PM
there are areas that are definitely getting gentrified. Richmond seems about the same to me as it always has the past 15 years or so.

VCU is ever expanding, so that's been a difference downtown. i try and stay away from the increasing suburban sprawl happening in the surrounding counties, but it's definitely happening. the food scene continues to be pretty great. i dunno, i dig it here.
13134393, Richmond food scene is underrated
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Mar-13-17 12:41 PM
Probably the best bang for the buck when it comes to variety at an affordable price.

I remember an article in NYC about tr locals who had to transfer to Richmond for a job and how amazed they were at the number of Indian spots in Richmond.

13134562, Yeah, there's good everything here.
Posted by KiloMcG, Mon Mar-13-17 08:00 PM
13134367, I was planning to do some food shopping on GP
Posted by 13Rose, Mon Mar-13-17 12:12 PM
Wasn't even thinking about the snow storm tomorrow. That damn coop is gonna be a madhouse. I do have some stuff in the crib already (snacks, pasta, fruit, veggies) but I wanted to get a few more things. If it's looking nuts I'm making a Grandpa Simpson U turn.
13134377, *THE* Co Op?
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:19 PM
you better just go to a regular store
or Fairway?
LOL!

13134368, stay ready, that's the motto...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Mar-13-17 12:12 PM
..the meteorologist in this area are often wrong, but this storm looks legit.

that said, i stay ready.

>thank God my fridge stays decked

check.

>i think we have salt from the last time

check.

>but that isnt my concern cuz i dont shovel

lol... poor hubs.

>i do have hot chocolate and snacks on deck for those who do
>LOL

and THIS is why you rock! everybody has to do their part.

part of me thinks we won't get much, but the last time i doubted we ended up with more than a foot of snow in less than 8 hrs. still, this would only be the 2nd major snowfall of the winter. i'll take that.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
13134379, LOL i'll do my part for sure
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:21 PM
gonna even head to the store before the masses hopefully to get some missing ingredients for nachos tomorrow

>part of me thinks we won't get much, but the last time i

>winter. i'll take that.

i mean i hope it's not much
but like u said abt the last one...im thinking it might be something
this winter was awesome though so i cant even complain!
13134374, yesterday it snowed in Charlotte...
Posted by Trinity444, Mon Mar-13-17 12:18 PM
just a few inches but it melted that afternoon. I talked to my mama she said it's cold as hell up there...

lol @ not handling the shoveling. I used to love it.
13134382, i know u stay laughing at how they handle snow in CLT
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:23 PM
uhm, i paid my shoveling dues
im in retirement for now.
13134404, these people crazy..
Posted by Trinity444, Mon Mar-13-17 12:53 PM
I call home all the time talking about them. speaking of which, my mother was like, you find a man down there yet". lol

13134375, It's like people only have baking soda in their fridge, when they hear snow..
Posted by Paps_Smear, Mon Mar-13-17 12:18 PM
Its like NOW is the time to put something else in that shit.

You should never have to rush to the store for anything except for salt to put down on your steps. That's it!

Possibly liquor if you know you're gonna be stuck in for awhile.

People think they need to by 58 gallons of water. You got snow outside and a stove inside.
13134384, i feel like it's EVERYONE though not just those pple
Posted by bonamie, Mon Mar-13-17 12:25 PM
you shouldnt even rush for salt though becuz you KNOW theyre gonna sell out!
at least that's been my experience

i find the milk, bread and water pple most annoying of all.

now you have me thinking abt how much wine i have on deck
im sure we aint drinking though.
13134391, You think people are at home dipping bread into bowls of milk?
Posted by Paps_Smear, Mon Mar-13-17 12:34 PM
Why milk? These folks ain't drinking milk on the regular. It's some shit you programmed to think you need.

Buying up all the bread, and don't even make sandwiches.

Pick up canned goods that won't go bad.

It's disgusting.
13134395, Fools really acting like it's some last days type shit
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Mar-13-17 12:45 PM
2 days later they ain't touched none of that shit they bought.

Beer and meat. That's my shopping list for snow.
13134394, i didn't make (real) market this weekend like a dummy
Posted by ambient1, Mon Mar-13-17 12:42 PM
so now I really need bread, tp, eggs n shit and gotta fight wit these fools in the one place I despise shopping....the supermarket
13134480, Good luck man. These fools get extra ignant when bad weather is on the way
Posted by Beezo, Mon Mar-13-17 03:31 PM
13134482, Oh I know lol....sittin here now debating whether i wanna beef
Posted by ambient1, Mon Mar-13-17 03:35 PM

or go battle w/'them' and hit the burbs

either way

it's gonna be a fight lol
13134559, "Us" and "them" lol
Posted by Beezo, Mon Mar-13-17 07:48 PM
I dealt with "them" on Sunday morning.

13134399, i was supposed to fly to Florida tomorrow
Posted by makaveli, Mon Mar-13-17 12:49 PM
they cancelled the flight already.
13134475, my flight to ny was cancelled.
Posted by shygurl, Mon Mar-13-17 03:20 PM
Piece of shit American refunded my money today even though I asked two days ago just to have a credit to rebook. It took me three phone calls to accomplish this 10 minute feat.
13134486, i'm flying out wednesday morning instead
Posted by makaveli, Mon Mar-13-17 03:44 PM
no fee, I'm surprised they didn't off you that.
13134798, yea they initially offered to change the date.
Posted by shygurl, Tue Mar-14-17 01:09 PM
It made no sense for me to do that cause whats the purpose in traveling to a city thats going to be shut down for the duration of my trip? I just wanted to move the date of the trip entirely.
13134400, Reply under here if you'll be wearing shorts tomorrow!

13134489, more importantly: what's on the menu?..
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Mar-13-17 03:51 PM
..that goes for food, drink, & entertainment.

i'm currently considering another batch of chili (perfect time to use the slow cooker, while out clearing the block). plenty of bourbon/rye on deck for ol' fashioned & hot toddies.

too many tv/film titles to really name, but i need to catch up on legion, and finally check out a few slept on films like chronic or wolves.

whatSAYyou?..

13134561, I'm making thai chicken fried rice tonight
Posted by 13Rose, Mon Mar-13-17 07:56 PM
Those leftovers will be tomorrow's lunch. I always keep popcorn kernels in the crib so I'm good on the snack front. A few of my favorite Japanese snacks too for something sweet if I'm so inclined.

Entertainment wise, it's Zelda on the Switch all day (except during the time that I'm working from home *ahem* of course).
13134942, nice move...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Tue Mar-14-17 05:20 PM
..i made a nice come up from a nice neighbor that decided to share her homemade minestrone soup with the clearance crew.

not bad. i appreciate having good neighbors.

13134535, supermarket was BANANAS!

13134549, don't get me started on the bs i just witnessed...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Mar-13-17 07:17 PM
..people panic about a possible foot of snow like its gonna snow forever lol.

just saw some wild disrespectful people complaining about long lines, gentrification, & people waiting 'til the last minute to shop (how can you complain when you're doing the same thing?).

regular shopping trip for me. i was in & out without hassle. in line for no more than 10 minutes.

13134841, The butcher was a shitshow yesterday.
Posted by soulpsychodelicyde, Tue Mar-14-17 02:04 PM
Not the supermarket. The butcher. Everyone had the same idea -- braising, roasting, etc.

I decided to finally make some chicken stock so did that. Am practicing knife work on a steak tartare, and made some Thai Golden Bags for lunch. Braised oxtails for dinner, I think.
13134965, one helluva menu...

13134967, all that fuss for less than a foot of snow...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Tue Mar-14-17 06:24 PM
..lol.

fortunate to get less than 5 inches in bedstuy. granted, the snow/sleet/ice mix made for some heavy lifting, but the city should be on pace in a few hours.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

13135114, It appears
Posted by Numba_33, Wed Mar-15-17 10:26 AM
it's going to take some time for the slush/ice to melt to the point it's thoroughly safe to bike in the streets without getting in the way of cars on the road though. The fact sleet fell during the storm made things very interesting for folks that waited until this morning to try and drive away from their parking spots instead of clearing the way last night.

This has been an interesting winter. And I think it's supposed to snow a little bit towards the end of the week.
13135120, i actually rode my bike today...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Wed Mar-15-17 10:31 AM
..i wouldn't recommend it for most lol.

the mounds of snow might linger, but the roadways & sidewalks should be clear.

13135240, true...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Wed Mar-15-17 02:41 PM
..not much snow, but that snow/sleet mixture made for 2 inches of ice under the snow.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
13135288, Correction
Posted by Numba_33, Wed Mar-15-17 03:31 PM
RE: The ice was really thick everywhere, for folks that didn't bother to shovel/salt until this morning. Especially true since sleet fell roughly in the middle of the storm yesterday, which added a good deal of heft and weight to whatever unshoveled/unsalted mess that was left to be dealt with this morning for the lazy folks.
13135162, every time it snows, it's crazy to me who i see & dont see out shoveling
Posted by BigJazz, Wed Mar-15-17 12:09 PM
i see women out there and i KNOW they got able-bodied men in the house.

then there's the old guy that i always send back in the house when i see him shoveling. he's 2 scoops away from a heart attack. crazy part is that he has grown sons & son-in-laws (or is it sons-in-law) that live less than 30 minutes away and they never help. well, hardly ever. they did help during snowmageddon.

i don't see kids walking around offering to shovel for a few dollars. there's money to be had. people would gladly ante up to avoid going out there. but around my way, them youngins ain't interested.

and then you got the half assers that don't remove all the snow from their cars. fools clear a small part of the windshield & the back window and maybe the two front windows and they out.

13135255, kids dont do that anymore
Posted by MzOnyxVI, Wed Mar-15-17 03:01 PM
when i was in VA I offered a neighbors son $ to shovel my walkway

he never showed up
