The quality of Ford movies swings wildly these days.
13107570, LOL that nigga has nothing to do with the script.
Posted by bwood, Mon Dec-19-16 01:01 PM
He just shows up and acts.
13107645, hmm.. so far the sound is the only thing catching my interest
Posted by Atillah Moor, Mon Dec-19-16 02:22 PM
going to be hard to capture the magic of the first
13107669, y'all know i'm a hater of the first one, but Denise directing this...

shieeeeet. I'm all in
13199225, I've seen this shit twice now.
Posted by bwood, Mon Oct-02-17 07:46 PM
Yea, I know the world is real shitty right now and this is could be great escape from the world right now.

My nigga Denis Villeneuve is 5 for 5. And Roger Deakins gotta take home that cinematography Oscar.

This shit is smart with great performances all around. In my opinion, the third act is incredible. I really can't believe a major studio greenlit this with the budget it has.

Between this and Mad Max: Fury Road, were bringing back 80s franchises bigger and just as good (if not better) as the OG shit.

Mos def worth it for IMAX since it's formatted for it. NYC, it's worth the trip to 68th and Broadway IMAX. Trust me.
13199229, I'm hype.

I'm a big Blade Runner fan and a big Denis Villeneuve fan.

I was afraid of this film ruining both for me.

But what I've been hearing so far has me relieved.
13199254, I was nine when the first one came out

Caught it on cable after at my aunts house and was hyped to finally see it
Nobody in the hood heard about it even though we talked Star Wars all day and Han Solo and all
I even had the comic
Hyped
Thanks for pushing
Bringing a lil bit of that feeling back
13199263, It has the feel of the first film in spades.
Posted by bwood, Tue Oct-03-17 06:12 AM
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
13199232, Not sure I will enjoy this since I wasn't a fan of the first one

I'm an advocate for working smarter, not harder. If you just
focus on working hard you end up making someone else rich and
not having much to show for it. (c) mad
13199266, Check out this Blade Runner 2022: Black Out short

Interested to see the reaction.
13200164, Got tix for tonight!

Can't smoke beforehand but since its da fancy movie theater imma have a tasty fifth of fine whiskey in honor of Deckards drinking habits in the first film.

Rewatched the OG version earlier this week; should I try to tackle the shorts? I was afraid they would give a little too much away
13200227, The animated one is safe to watch.
Posted by bwood, Thu Oct-05-17 12:56 PM
The other 2 I'd wait on.

Enjoy bruh bruh.
13200177, I'm going on Saturday
Posted by rhchick, Thu Oct-05-17 11:42 AM
Can't wait.

I just saw the first Blade Runner for the first time last year.
13200228, RE: I'm going on Saturday

What was your initial reaction after you saw the OG?
13200232, It's interesting
Posted by rhchick, Thu Oct-05-17 01:04 PM
I thought it was really good. I kept thinking it a mix of Terminator and Mad Max.

I'll be interested to see how this one marries with the original.

It's cool to hear a woman's opinion on this movie. I know zero ladies IRL that have seen it.
13200311, going tonight
Posted by Boogiedwn, Thu Oct-05-17 03:48 PM
Early reviews changed my mind about it

Really good, probably favorite film this year so far

Hit the double feature combo of the original and the new film (so that made for a long ass night)
13200439, It helped though right?
Posted by bwood, Fri Oct-06-17 10:03 AM
Like it enrichened your enjoyment of 2049. It did for me.
13200460, it did
Posted by Boogiedwn, Fri Oct-06-17 11:22 AM
I had seen it multiple times before but a long time ago and it really helped.
13200409, I enjoyed it

Ryan gosling seems like a rich man's Keanu Reeves... Emotive when he needs to be but mostly very sedate and serene looking. It fits this movie but I'm ambivalent about him as an actor.

Anyway, the movie looked gorgeous and really transported me. I think the sub-story was more interesting than the major one though... Particularly in the scene where fantasy merged with reality.

It made me think about how we sometimes super impose our fantasies on reality for ourselves but it was a trip seeing the fantasy make itself tangible.

I'm still processing where gosling's character was emotionally when he decided his course of action in the climax. Same with the primary villains emotion... Couldn't quite get a bead on that characters emotional motivation to do what was done... It seemed like more than following orders.
13200423, I can answer some of that once more people have seen it.

13200419, tonight at 7pm.

13200816, Blade Runner 2049 exists. that is its greatest attribute
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Oct-08-17 09:05 PM
but goddamn this shit bombed

that 2:45 flew by and i've never been able to stay into movies that long but i was totally engrossed.

at one point i remember asking myself who greenlit this and how did they get a $150 mil+ budget. thank god they did.

gonna have to find time to go see it again.

I personally don't give a shit about it bombing. If anything, I hope that financial trouble closes this franchise out for good and we are left with two beautiful classic bookends
