13087457, What would you invest 15k into?
Posted by DJPoke, Thu Oct-27-16 02:21 PM
I have about 15k in savings I was stashing for a down payment on a crib. But I'm going to chill on that for a minute. I want to put atleast 10k into something that will make me money. I don't know shit about stocks and bonds and I'm not too fond of throwing that much into there. I'm not looking for a quick flip or anything. Just something that would make me the 10k back and then some within 2 years or so and continue to make it. Help me before I do some nigga shit like open a sneaker consignment shop. Also open to suggestions for education and licenses (i.e. real estate, IT certs, coding classes etc)
13087460, Trying to double your investment in 2 years is a quick flip
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Oct-27-16 02:26 PM
Real estate or getting lucky on a stock seems like the only way to make 10K without doing any real work.

Prolly make more taking a coding class and hustling some projects.

How do you feel about bees? Deej was slinging honey and queen bees for 700 a queen

...or maybe you can trade up and get a dog with papers like on Atlanta.
13087478, I was for real thinking about starting a kennel

I don't have the property for it tho. I know some folk with land but I don't know if they can be trusted. Not trying to end up like Vick.

Something aggressive (mostly stocks, not bonds) will get you the highest return, assuming the market is healthy. But you won't turn $15K into $25K in the stock market that fast unless you're into something extremely risky, which means you'll just as likely lose it.

You should be very happy with a 10% return in the current climate.

13087498, Yea I don't want to do that until I get to the point where losing 10k
Posted by DJPoke, Thu Oct-27-16 03:04 PM

If you have the interest, I've seen a few folks switch careers and get 60-80k jobs after a 12-week intensive course with no previous experience.
13087527, What course would you recommend?
Posted by DJPoke, Thu Oct-27-16 03:30 PM
13087614, AWS Amazon Web Services

.
13087494, Why are you chilling on buying a crib?
Posted by flipnile, Thu Oct-27-16 03:01 PM
Interest rates will probably only go up from here.
13087516, Unless he plans on moving it's prolly the best investment
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Oct-27-16 03:15 PM
Especially if he finds a short sale or foreclosure.

Everyone at my job who rents is paying 1200 to 1400 a month. Those people could be in spots that have a mortgage of $900 dollars.

Of course there are other expenses but still. I been in my house 5 years and if I sold today I'm up 41%.

It's boring and he can't take the money and run in 2 years but ionno... that's money saved IMO.
13087524, My job situation right now is sketch.

Govt. Contractor and don't know if I'm staying on or if I even want to stay on for the next one because I might have to end up traveling.
13087526, Oh, I feel you. I would not buy a house unless I was stable
Posted by flipnile, Thu Oct-27-16 03:27 PM
As far as investments, maybe a higher-yielding savings account? Some are tiered, so you get better return rates for $5k, $10k, $20k, etc.
13087509, I'm using 10 as my down payment on a house
Posted by ambient1, Thu Oct-27-16 03:10 PM
the 5 I would save because I know that I would eventually need it ...for the house
