i don't know if they're actually friends - maybe/maybe not.

but that has nothing to do w/their campaigning, really.

i've run trials against prosecutors w/whom i've later been able to have friendly conversation. during the trial when in front of the jury we were adversaries. we didn't attack each other personally b/c that's not allowed but we definitely went hard at each other's cases. but then later after it was over we were back to being friendly. that's common among lawyers - to be adversaries in the court room but then friends or at least friendly outside the court room.
