Yeah, he may have been pissing away his potential, but it's his potential to piss away. Its a strain on the relationship and Issa, but it wasn't personal; he just couldn't see the forest for the trees.

She did though, and she knew it bothered her and rather then break up with her we have her running around like a coward (and the first 6 episodes of Season 1, lol). She checked out of the relationship and eventually cheated because she aint know what she liked and rather end it cleanly made it as messy as possible.

This is real; people find themselves in situations where they resent the person they are dating for not being the idealized person we want them to be. You can push them/help em...but ultimately if you stay in a shitty situation that's on you, not them. Issa treated him like shit because she couldn't be the bigger person and break up with him.
