13024971, Uh...no. Struggle Breakfast is NO breakfast.
Posted by Cold Truth, Sun May-22-16 03:03 PM
Struggle food is you got in baggies from a church that will give it to you three times a year.

Struggle food is food you beg for. Food you borrowed money to get and have no way to pay it back...and you were lucky to find someone who could or would lend you that money.

That pic + the post title is some privileged bullshit that clearly doesn't know a goddamned thing about what it means to actually struggle.

It's fucking insulting.
13025137, insulting? I thought "struggle (insert whatever)" was an OKP thing

He don't know my life.
13025234, lol, you struck a nerve
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon May-23-16 10:24 AM
13025285, lol are you really *that* guy?
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon May-23-16 11:20 AM
You know, the guy who interprets criticism of the content of his statements as a personal attack based exclusively on your race?
Because that’s exactly what happened here.

It’s a pretty convenient out for your ridiculously out of touch post…… but you being black doesn’t have a damn thing to do with the ignorance of your post.
13025278, LOL do you do you exist outside of OKP?
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon May-23-16 11:10 AM
It’s a common phrase here, but it neither originated nor exists solely in the OKP ‘universe’.

It’s hilarious that you cited my use of the term “insulting” but didn’t actually comment on what your issue was with it.

Yes, it’s insulting and ridiculous to call that a “struggle” meal. Anyone who considers that a “struggle” meal is too privileged to understand what struggle is.
13025283, it was posted on OKP
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon May-23-16 11:17 AM
not sure what else you are talking about because this didnt feel like an insulting thread..

he just swung and missed.

but i dont think he meant to insult anyone.
13025291, PSST….“struggle______” is not exclusive to OKP.
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon May-23-16 11:29 AM
You said “isn’t that an OKP thing?” in relation to me calling this an insult as though that made any sense at all.

Now you’re saying “well it was posted on OKP”, which, again…. Makes absolutely no sense. You’re saying absolutely nothing.

If you’re “not sure” what else I’m talking about you’re a moron because I clearly explained the disconnect between his idea of a “struggle” meal to an actual struggle meal.

An insult doesn’t need to be intentional to be an insult.

Further, it’s not like I went in on HIM like he was trying to be insulting. I went in on the content of the post itself. No more no less, buuuut it’s clear you’re hoping to drag this out into a bigger deal than it actually is so you can start a long ass back and forth and then…you know exactly how the rest will play out.
13025303, ok

13025012, Looks like my regular breakfast minus the eggs and real bacon.
Posted by Atillah Moor, Sun May-22-16 05:36 PM
13025014, Fish, grits, and bacon? Nope. Not a struggle breakfast.
Posted by The Wordsmith, Sun May-22-16 05:57 PM
Had that pic been of scrap food that had been tossed together in order to make a meal or super cheap food that typically shows up in people's cabinets and fridges due to being low income households or having to tighten belts until payday (such as ramen with bologna pieces in it), then it would qualify. There are nice restaurants that serve the meal that you posted. That's good eating on that pic.

They serve what you describe at high dollar restaurants.
I paid $12 for ramen with hot dogs in it at Momofuku in Philly like 15 years ago.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was $20 now.

That sounds disturbingly bad.

How did that taste? What else was in this concoction?
13025339, I was on a date. it tasted like half a pack of Maruchan noodles
Posted by deejboram, Mon May-23-16 12:29 PM
So I paid $12 for $0.0625 worth of Top Ramey

The broth was hella weak too

Since I don't eat shellfish that's all on the menu I could order
13025451, That sounds like a stellar business plan.
Posted by Numba_33, Mon May-23-16 03:24 PM
Sell struggle undergrad college food staples and charge top dollar for it in a sit down restaurant environment.

Have to love capitalism.
13025020, bacon = all the pimp shit

Posted by Trinity444, Mon May-23-16 12:14 PM

13025331, Well, that was a struggle without a cast iron skillet
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon May-23-16 12:20 PM
My guess is he had to make do with a plain ol' Teflon non stick pan.
13025356, gotta have one...
Posted by Trinity444, Mon May-23-16 01:03 PM
It's one of the first things I bought when I moved down here

13025360, that skillet weighs 30lbs. it's giving me carpal tunnel
Posted by deejboram, Mon May-23-16 01:09 PM

13025336, The fish is leftovers from yesterday's lunch at Roux Pour
Posted by deejboram, Mon May-23-16 12:26 PM
It was struggle in that all I did was chop our last 5 slices bacon in half to make it "seem" like it was more and cooked up about thirty cents worth of grits flavored with some of them bacon drippings to make this breakfast on my struggle electric coil stove.

It was hello good tho

But taste don't have nothing to do with struggle
13025340, haha, neither does anything on your plate, for real
Posted by KiloMcG, Mon May-23-16 12:33 PM

>But taste don't have nothing to do with struggle

but whatevs. i thought it was gonna be a picture of a poptart or something Haha.
13025352, **gets back in bed**
Posted by Trinity444, Mon May-23-16 12:53 PM
I'm not feeling any of it lol

do you cook your grits in water or milk?
13025353, I really shouldn't do this (c) R Kelly
Posted by deejboram, Mon May-23-16 12:59 PM
Cook them in water
Once cooked throw in splashes of bacon drippings
Salt to taste

Depending how I feel I might go creamy and do a couple splashes milk before I add my cheese

If not, like sunday, I just add a handful of cheese(s) and keep it pushin

Also, if u didn't know u can sub sour cream or heavy cream for the milk
Cream cheese too
I've done them all a time or two

I don't cook mine in milk because I find it is a waste of milk as the end result you cant tell

But I do cook cream of wheat in 100% milk
Now THAT you can tell the difference
13025362, remember that scene in the color purple?
Posted by Trinity444, Mon May-23-16 01:11 PM
when Sug threw the food back out at Mister, lol
that's what I'd do with this...

I can't eat grits any other way
no cheese, no sugar...
just butter and a little pepper
the sour/cream cheese is interesting 🤔
