started it before when i torrented a pdf upon its release, but never got that far. i picked up a paperback while i was waiting for my mom to get out of physical therapy. i've been slacking on my reading terribly the last few years, and i've always wanted to make a run at reading a slate of books written by native americans.
its kind of like Lolita in that it is about something terrible, in this case the brutal rape of a native american woman on a North Dakota reservation, but the writing is so good that it makes all the terrible shit go down easy and you float through the pages. i'm fifty-six pages in and i feel like shit, but man, what a smooth ride.
