13103526, Yeah, I lived in DC in four years, have lived in LA for four... Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Dec-08-16 12:56 PM
... and while I do love DC, I love it out here way more.
>>• My house would cost three times as much in L.A. > >fair
Definitely fair.
>>• People are chill here (I have way more friends than >ever) > >they chill here...
They are. I have more friends in LA than I did in DC.
>>• Traffic (DC ain't great, but it ain't L.A)
I actually object to this one. I genuinely prefer the 405 to the Beltway.
>>• Culture – We have actual culture here (amazing >museums, >>arts, free stuff to do) > >uhh, as do we! We have LACMA, MOCA, the Getty and the fucn >Broad here. y'alls galleries ain't fucking with ours: 1988, >Hvywh8, 7th Letter, Think Space, Known. > >the beat scene literally started here and Low End is damn near >10 YEARS strong. Dublab is also rooted here. All alt music >spaces vibe out from the Virgil, to Los Globos, to Echo/plex, >to the Dime to events by KissNgrind > >The griffith observatory is free and we got beaches
Yeah, and you didn't even mention the comedy scene here. DC has little-to-no comedy scene. Source: me, when I was briefly tackling the DC comedy scene.
>>• Dining scene rivals L.A. > >only complaint is our shit tend to be over prices and my >homegirl moved out there about 6months ago and her FB is >littered with post about how y'all aint got Mexican, >Salvadorean or Korean shit. stahp
I have no real opinion on this either way, as I love the dining both places.
>>• More green spaces > >fine I guess, but I live on the Westside, and there's a healthy amount of green over here.
>>• If you like Vegas, we're getting an MGM across the river >>(not across the state) > >nick young gif
For real. I would've gone with gilly face jpg myself.
>>• Better female-to-male ratio for us straights > >que chingados
Not entirely convinced this is true, as all my single friends out here have zero trouble finding action... but I met my wife while hitting on girls in DC, so I'll defer.
>>• Good, high-paying job market > >better than LA?
Probably true, though I'm getting paid way better out in LA than I was in DC, so I'm good.
>>• Bike-friendly (if you care about that shit) > >fine. we getting better tho
Westside is insanely bike-friendly... all the way to Beverly Hills, honestly. I do wish it was more bike-friendly overall, though-- the hills make biking out here harder than in DC, but you also don't want to bike in the snow/rain/winter, whereas in LA it's year-round, so it's a wash, imo.
>>• We're smarter, more literate and well-read > >I'll give you this.
We read the trades!
>>• Barack and Michelle live here >> >smdh
Beyonce and Jay have a house here so
