They did it twice now, and it's not cute. I cut off the show both times, and actually had to wait like a while before finishing the series. But both served really no purpose at all other than providing some nice white guilt. It's a shitty parallel to the magical negro.

But his nerdy afro'd ass was too black for all that. Instead of being the leader of the children of supervillains, Alex was the mole that apparently needed to be killed by the end of the first story arc

It would have been one thing if Alex, who had been set up as the leader of this group, had actually become the main villain of the book, but they just killed him and used the relationship he had with the Japanese American girl to elevate her as the leader

I honestly would have loved Alex as a badass new villain but they just killed him :/
