12995515, you ever visited your lady's office to defend her honor?
Posted by Kwesi, Wed Dec-31-69 07:00 PM
so, im on a roll.

i cussed out another co-worker out yesterday.

i worked from home, but called the coworker to get some more clarity on a request.

halfway through the conversation i let it fly.

the beginning:

friday @ 1:30 pm i got this email:
--------
Hi Kwesi,
I was thinking we could add banner images to the Adobe Connect platform to give it the same look of the marketing pieces we’ve sent out. Here are specs from Adobe Connect around logo & banners. Let me know your thoughts…
--------

right? right

monday @ 11:00 am i got this followup, but she CC my lil supervisor.

--------
Hi Kwesi,
Can you give me an update on the banners? We need to have these in order to proceed with setting up the registration.
--------

so im a little on edge about a lot, but for whatever reason, i couldn't understand for the life of me why this co worker would copy a supervisor, and press me out about a request before 24hrs. i thought we was cool?!

essentially, this launched into a whole thing between the two of us cause i thought she was whack for this pair of emails.

but the conversation started off about how weak her request was (i aint thnk she aint gave me enough details), and escalated from there.

i called her wack, and 'thats some bullshit' and whole lot of other mean sounding shit.

never insulting, just real, i don't know, agressive?

ANYWAY.

i brung her some flowers this morning to apologize, and i can tell that she had a rough night.

her and i are pretty close so she was hurt.

she explained that she told her boyfriend about the whole incident, and that made perfect sense.

but what i immediately remembered is the time when a bamma ACTUALLY did come up to the office to confront me.

could you imagine?!

this was about 7 yrs ago, at another job - i was a huge practical joker.

i thought it was a good idea to print out a termination letter (on company letter head) and leave it on a friends desk at lunch.

she got back from lunch, read the letter - immediately freaked out then called her boyfriend (that's something i didn't anticipate her doing)

but it makes sense, she thought she was fired - of course she would call him.

so she comes around and tells her friends, and we're all just cracking up cause we know it's a joke.

bla bla bla, she gotta call the nigga back to tell him 'sike nah' and now he is PISSED.

...

so the end of the day rolls around and the nigga is in the lobby talking to me like 'yall niggas play too much!'

im like 'what the fuck, dog - this my job! i could do what i want. that shit was funny!'

he like 'nah dog, yall got to chill'

then im like 'dog!, how you coming in here telling me how to do my job?? do i go to the DJ booth and tell you what records to spin??'

(yes, he was a DJ)

the whole lobby erupted in laughter. the nigga got embarrassed walked to the trunk of his car like he was gonna get some heat.

we in bethesda and im just like 'whaaaaat'??'

so im still going and laughing the whole time cause i just hit a homerun.

his lady convince him to chill get back in the car.

they drive off.

...

i invited this newly mad nigga to a conversation about how i made his lady feel yesterday.

this should be good.

have you ever showed up at your lady's office in her honor?

lunch and saw a termination letter in my chair.
12995530, more details: the letter wasn't my idea. i just thought to put it on
Posted by Kwesi, Tue Mar-29-16 11:09 AM
letterhead.

...

the lil nigga that thought of the termination letter was less confrontational, so i aint want to be like, 'nigga i aint even think of the shit, it was HIM!'

and then point him out.

...

does that change the way you feel about it?
12995533, yeah it does...
Posted by Big Kuntry, Tue Mar-29-16 11:13 AM
the mastermind behind the plan owes you lunch
12995531, a fake termination letter?!

12995548, i'm confused, you were mad she pressed you for a request
Posted by StephBMore, Tue Mar-29-16 11:24 AM
less than 24 hours after she sent it to you? but didn't she email you friday? and didn't this happen yesterday?

I mean that's all extra, cc the supervisor (Unless she said she was waiting on you to the supervisor so she was showing her due diligence) but yeah no.

However, that termination letter was a bit much.
12995552, 24 business hours.
Posted by Kwesi, Tue Mar-29-16 11:27 AM
plus the initial request was real casual like 'hey, i was thinking ... '

go from that, to 'we can't finish this without your piece. ...'

with the super on, in less than 24 hrs?

that shit blew me.

im already in funny water around here.
12995565, ok.
Posted by StephBMore, Tue Mar-29-16 11:33 AM
i get that but you know it's sometimes odd when ppl work from home because ppl assume that others work odd random hours including weekend hours and not just the scheduled 9 to 5. regardless, it was a mess.
12995568, did you ever reply to the first email? n/m

12996238, fuck that email. i had 24 hrs to respond.
Posted by Kwesi, Wed Mar-30-16 11:05 AM
unless she put a important exclamation on.

but that wasn't the case.

im serious, these people need business writing & correspondence classes.

most people who work in offices are in dire need of direction when it comes to communicating efficiently.
12996297, was there at least an "I'm working on it" type response?
Posted by KosherSam, Wed Mar-30-16 12:20 PM
or did the initial email go unanswered?

part of business communication is to let the person know you've read the request and will get on top of it.

... 'for sale' signs on cars. (extra points for photos and posting on Craigslist, AND the all staff distribution list. with his/her real telephone number)

Vulgar messages taped to a side that the driver won't notice before they get in. 'I like my ass smacked'

...

shit like that

Where is the peace when we are in the back of ambulances? Where is the peace then?
They don't want to call for peace then.

12995639, Nothing makes me want to hit a dude more than a dude thinking...
Posted by flipnile, Tue Mar-29-16 12:30 PM
...that I won't hit him, and he's being all smug about shit. Shit is enraging, fam. Ain't nobody above getting their jaw tapped, and folks that act like they have a magic force field around them tend to catch it the worst. Just saying... that jokey joke shit w/ another man's woman ain't cool. One of these dudes is gonna swing on principle.

To answer your question: No, because if I go and show up at the gig then I've already gone too far to turn back. I'd be going with the intent of laying hands on someone. Why else go? To cuss someone out? lol.
12995925, CHicks be wildin yo!!!!!
Posted by TR808, Tue Mar-29-16 03:48 PM
You was wrong for that joke because it wasnt funny...

Second she was wrong for putting the battery on her man to come up to her job because anything could have happened at that point...

Sounds like in the email old girl dropped the ball and tried to cover her self by sending out the fast emails then add your boss on like "see I'm on it". I been there...

Maybe you was too comfortable in the email since you work from home...
12995944, I would be mad snarky after that.
Posted by RaFromQueens, Tue Mar-29-16 03:58 PM
You wanna run it by the manager or should we just call your boyfriend?

12996195, Being in Bethesda (the earlier incident) wouldn't actually protect you
Posted by Cocobrotha2, Wed Mar-30-16 10:16 AM
It just means there'd be more witnesses and dude would more likely have been caught.
12996222, good point. i didn't consider bethesda protection, i was just thrown off
Posted by Kwesi, Wed Mar-30-16 10:49 AM
cause im used to shit like that happening around the block.

and when niggas go to bethesda, i thought they're more likely to act-right.

... more like, 'dog we kinda far from home to be acting like this'.

12996250, Should have replied - no such thing as business hrs with email
Posted by stattic, Wed Mar-30-16 11:15 AM

for the non-middling
12996253, no such thing as business hours? yeah. for my own business. not this
Posted by Kwesi, Wed Mar-30-16 11:26 AM
bullshit.

stress yourself over a weak-ass nine-to-five (by not creating boundaries) if you want to.
