12991001, makes sense

12991000, I feel like you still need to have one

a phone # alone doesn't help someone remember who you are or why you matter, and asking them to follow you on twitter or linkedin at first meeting comes off as assholeish even if you don't mean it that way.

12991005, I can see that.

for me though, I barely passed them out when I had them. over the last 4-5 years, I have even had any to give out. with that said, I've not been on my networking game since linkedin.

I don't see cards as a necessity any more. they're like flyers for CDs.
12991082, I'm in the same boat, mostly

but I go to just enough industry events and whatnot, and run into random people, that they come in handy.

12991006, ^ a phone number is crucial too.

just the other day i was trying to reach someone at SnapChat on the phone b/c i had a question about a case. it was fucking impossible! WPOTGIT?? i finally found the answer to my question by poking around on Google but by then i was highly annoyed. SC needs employees who can pick up a phone and answer a question. not everyone wants to conduct business by computer.
12991003, yes b/c plenty customers/clients still want them.

it's smart to have some just in case.
12991038, that's prolly why I don't see it much.

I deal with client via web conferences mostly. so I rarely see folks in person nowadays.

even when I was traveling to client sites, I rarely gave or saw cards.
