12965466, Does your S/O know your phone unlock code and vice versa?
Posted by John Forte, Fri Jan-29-16 11:30 AM
Well?
12965470, Yes/no
Posted by MEAT, Fri Jan-29-16 11:32 AM
Not out of any specific sense of honesty, I've needed her to unlock my phone more times than I've unlocked hers.
That and I couldn't remember her Samsung pattern when she did let me know.
12965472, yep. both ways.

12965473, nope.
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-29-16 11:34 AM
never done that.

never wanted or needed to.
12965480, Do you live together?
Posted by John Forte, Fri Jan-29-16 11:36 AM
Sometimes I can't find my phone and need to use hers to call it. Sometimes I need to look something up real quick, and her phone is right there and mine is upstairs or whatever. We both know each other's and it's not a big deal.
12965518, not living together, no.
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-29-16 12:05 PM
i've lived alone for years while managing to make it w/just my phone. so if/when i cohabitate i should be able to continue making it w/o access to his phone.
12965477, btw: 60-70% of the domestic battery cases i see begin with
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-29-16 11:35 AM
an argument involving a mobile phone (including arguments about social media shenanigans).

95% of the domestic battery + criminal damage to property cases i see involve a phone - w/the phone being the damaged property.
12965488, But is that 100% because of cheating though?

my boy is on his second wife because his first wife went online and read his text messages and printed them out and sent them to the church.

and this nigga still has all types of shit on his phone.

I'm impressed by how sloppy he is with his marriage.

12965505, What if they need to use your phone?
Posted by flipnile, Fri Jan-29-16 11:53 AM
Battery died, phone fell in water, it just isn't working, etc.

They gotta ask you every time it goes to screensaver if you can unlock it for them?
12965513, exactly. my phone is used for navigation when we drive
Posted by Damali, Fri Jan-29-16 12:04 PM
so if i want to just look up something, i use his phone.

12965699, Nah. If It's locked it's locked for a reason.
Posted by Case_One, Fri Jan-29-16 03:52 PM
Otherwise don't lock it.

.
.
.
12965802, What?
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Jan-29-16 08:56 PM
So you constantly change the setting to have it not lock?

My phone locks every time it turns off so nothing is pressed accidentally or if someone I don't know happens to get a hold of it.
12965806, yea, so strangers have a hard fucking time with using it.
Posted by Nodima, Fri Jan-29-16 09:01 PM
any time I've lost my phone I also immediately go to Find My Phone and lock it down completely with a message displaying my SO at the time or parents'/closest friend's phone number. Unless you really want to steal phones and can run the whole game on refreshing them, you can't have mine or the info inside it.

But I really don't care if friends need to use it. You have to be careful with strangers or lost / forgotten phones though.

Posted by flipnile, Fri Jan-29-16 12:07 PM
Nothing scandalous, but I have a grip of private info on it. I take photos of things like licenses or cards in case I lose them.

and they can answer it w/o needing my password.

and i can just let the call go and deal w/it later.

That's the only real reason she's used my phone. For years.
And I don't see that changing.
12965555, word.
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-29-16 12:34 PM
12965550, She doesn't have my email password. Or my computer.
Posted by MEAT, Fri Jan-29-16 12:30 PM
There's still a level of privacy. I'm one that used to sleep with my phone for years. Now I don't and life hasn't changed. But I wouldn't have done that with most people.
12965546, yes
Posted by KiloMcG, Fri Jan-29-16 12:27 PM
12965552, She has access to my phone but I have apps that require a code
Posted by Marbles, Fri Jan-29-16 12:32 PM

She doesn't need to see the group chats between me and my fellas. Or all of the conversations between me, my Mom & brother.

By the same token, I don't go digging thru her phone.

But we both have access to public (for lack of a better term) areas of each others phones.
12965567, we don't lock phones
Posted by hardware, Fri Jan-29-16 12:46 PM

dunno whats on hers.
12965578, We know eachother's code
Posted by Eric B Is Prez, Fri Jan-29-16 12:56 PM
We've got nothing to hide. Plus we take a fair amount of road trips so I often need her to do something on my phone why I'm driving.

The only thing that *might* be a little awkward would be if she saw who I follow on IG, but she wouldn't go snooping on my phone beyond needing to accomplish some specific task. And if she did see IG feed, not much explanation would be needed. LOL.
12965591, I know his

12965598, Is there usually a prior acts exclusion on this?
Posted by Teknontheou, Fri Jan-29-16 01:18 PM
Like, does this require erasing ancient pr0n you have on your phone, or pictures (not necessarily scandalous) of people from past relationships?
12965604, RE: Is there usually a prior acts exclusion on this?
Posted by Eric B Is Prez, Fri Jan-29-16 01:22 PM
> of people from past relationships?

I'd be careful with this. Your S/O might say "I don't care about that...that's your past" but if they see some old pics, they probably will feel at least a little something not positive. I'd just delete it.
12965603, yep we know our codes. I got nothing to hide. That being said..
Posted by KnowOne, Fri Jan-29-16 01:22 PM
There is a need to respect personal space. Just cuz I got nothing to hide dont mean I want you sitting reading all the text convos me and my boys have. Something she started doing when I first gave it to her & I had to check her on it. Now just that fact she has it & knows she can go in it anytime is enough for her. She trusts me again.
12965632, a year and a half later and I STILL don't lock my phone

She doesn't use one but she uses the same password for everything like a dummy and I know that one. I've told her mine reluctantly so she could unlock my phone for something. Not sure if she remembered it or not (lets be honest, she made sure to commit that to memory immediately). I don't have anything to hide, I just want my shit to really be locked when I lock it.
12965710, my phone is password/fingerprint protected and encrypted
Posted by Rjcc, Fri Jan-29-16 04:03 PM
she doesn't have the password, but, I also use smart unlock w/ bluetooth so it's unlocked a lot of the time when she's around anyway.

don't know the code to her phone and don't want to know, I'm not even really comfortable answering her phone when someone calls

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at

Posted by tariqhu, Fri Jan-29-16 04:54 PM
she doesn't know mine. if she wants my phone, I can unlock it for her.
12965804, she might, but not directly.
Posted by Nodima, Fri Jan-29-16 08:59 PM
she's been driving and we've gone through the ATM and my PIN is the same as my phone. The screen also locked as I turned it to show her something and I just had her put it in. But we haven't explicitly told each other what it is, like for memory's sake.

For what it's worth, her phone doesn't even have a lock on it. But her text messages don't display a preview on the lock screen.

Months later after everything was smoothed out I was talking about how I was gonna change my code, but I left it the same to show her that I had nothing to hide, and she was like, "Why do you keep talking about a code?
