I guess to me i wonder if it comes from a lack of self confidence. Bc i've definitely been asked before. If it is a girl i really really like i take it as her being flirty and possibly wanting an ego stroke.
If its a girl i'm not that interested in really, i take it as her lacking self confidence and i got to work hard to find something nice to say that won't bite me later.
Perhaps in my experience, she was just picking up on my lack of non-interest vibe. But what does asking what i like about you solve??
