12959224, Tory Lanez
Posted by DJPoke, Tue Jan-19-16 01:13 PM
I can't decide if I like him or is it I just like the classic songs he flips. Going to need a sample free project from him to make a final verdict. In the meantime I'm enjoying what he's doing for the most part. Chixtape 3 being my favorite out the projects.
12959231, totally thought this was gonna be a porn star post

12959237, Thing is, barely any of his songs sound like "Say it." Bryson Tiller
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue Jan-19-16 01:23 PM
has the most hype in that "Trap R&B" lane, with his album being named so appropriately...but personally, "Say it" is a better radio/"end of the night at the club" song than anything on Tiller's project, production wise at least.

The lyrics do suck on "Say it" when you read em...he keeps mentioning his got damn foreign. But they flipped the hell outta that beat...sounds so clean too.
12959245, Who is behind Bryson Tiller?
Posted by DJPoke, Tue Jan-19-16 01:31 PM
He came out of nowhere. A couple songs..No mixtapes...Then boom. He drops a solid album with no features that's staying on the charts. Selling out shows etc. Not bad for some nigga outta Kentucky.
12959250, Man zero idea!! My boy sent me a grip of diff songs one day
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue Jan-19-16 01:35 PM
Maybe last Summer or September...one of them was "Don't." I'm blasting it in Inglewood, and these girls in the car next to me ask who's song that was, and I had to rewind and see his name. They didn't know who he was either, but they wrote his name down.

Literally, RIGHT after that, I start seeing dudes name alllllllllllll over social media. So I'm not sure how he got out there...a LOT of these new artists are a complete mystery to me. When they get big outta nowhere with zero features or major producers/labels behind them. Even with Fetty Wap, a DJ from the East told me about him in 2014, but I don't think the had anybody behind him like that.
12959269, Yea I 1st heard of him last spring
Posted by DJPoke, Tue Jan-19-16 01:58 PM
And that was on youtube. I was youtube'n the Weeknd songs and under one song there was an argument going on about PRTYOMO and Bryson Tiller. I was like who the fuck is Bryson Tiller and I youtube'd a couple songs and was like ehh.. another Drake clone. Few months after that I start hearing Down on Heat(seriusxm). But I ain't even know it was him. Even after seeing the name. Wasn't till a month later that I realized it was the same cat I youtube'd way back. But yea he making moves like an established veteran artist. It's just weird. Somebody on his team knows wtf they're doing.
12959261, Them Timbaland and Drake cosigns are behind him
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Tue Jan-19-16 01:49 PM
12959273, He's doing better than OVO artist so it's more than that.
Posted by DJPoke, Tue Jan-19-16 02:00 PM
12959313, He's signed to RCA
Posted by Heinz, Tue Jan-19-16 02:51 PM
He turned down OVO before his project dropped. But he had an industry and buzz before the online buzz when he had some songs out. He has a major behind him for that project
12959291, RE: Who is behind Bryson Tiller?
Posted by double 0, Tue Jan-19-16 02:21 PM
the song...

"Don't".. just works... it was straight word of mouth from soundcloud to apple/beats one then to others... the people that I spoke too involved early just loved it and sent it to everyone.. then Drake tweet.. then

Boom
12959308, What a time to be alive...

Don't and Exchange just really seem to click with a lot of people.
12959343, This.
Posted by stankpalmer, Tue Jan-19-16 03:34 PM
It's one of those joints where you just tune out the crap lyrics and enjoy the beat. I'm hoping the trapsoul sound wraps up soon and we get more artists in the "Say It"/Malibu lane.

>The lyrics do suck on "Say it" when you read em...he keeps
>mentioning his got damn foreign. But they flipped the hell
>outta that beat...sounds so clean too.

12959318, I should support him cause he's from my city but I don't
Posted by Heinz, Tue Jan-19-16 02:55 PM
I'm glad he has a following and got a deal, but He's always been a confused artist. He's been trying to get on for so long he was doing every sound in the world possible and was copying Drake so much too. He was almost like a Stan, he made videos claiming to Drakes brothers and then offered Drake 10k just to listen to his songs lol it was weird. I hope he milks this tho cause I predict we won't hear from him in a few years. Funny thing is the kid can rap and should be able to find his own lane but he's just doing the whole Drake/Future thing
12959328, I kinda peep'd that going thru his earlier tapes
Posted by DJPoke, Tue Jan-19-16 03:09 PM
I give him a pass because he's young and I could tell he was just making shit to sound like his influences and he hadn't found his sound. This last project sounds like he's finding his groove. That drake sound is basically it's own genre at this point.
12959337, It's becoming a Toronto sound...to me it's still more an OVO sound
Posted by Heinz, Tue Jan-19-16 03:22 PM
But I do see people out here and in he industry calling it a Toronto sound and maybe that's what it's turning into. I grew up out here when we just didn't have a sound, well we did but that was early 90s and it was just our version of New Yorks sound with our slang. But for the most part we just never had a sound, I guess this is it.
12959549, Cruel Intentions EP is FISH GREASE
Posted by astralblak, Tue Jan-19-16 10:56 PM
Torey also gunna be just fine. His sound is more his own for all the Drake, Future aping, then Tillers
