Posted by dba_BAD, Fri Jan-08-16 12:58 AM
love it big time
12953645, it makes no sense how much better he is than everyone else
Posted by atruhead, Fri Jan-08-16 01:09 AM
he's putting on "Jay Z did something" moments (the way the world would stop when Jay did something music related)

it's really like dont talk to me if you're not impressed at this point
12953651, Kendrick is so shy that he doesn't interview well.
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jan-08-16 01:20 AM
that was the take away from the first part.
And I thought this was the weakest of his tv performances so far in this cycle.
But people are going crazy over it.
So maybe it's me.
But it was better the second time I watched it.
I think I was initially kinda put off that he recycled his verse from "Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard On Ya"
12953655, he's so much better than his peers it's not even funny
Posted by astralblak, Fri Jan-08-16 01:27 AM
Did anyone think he'd grow into THIS type of artist

It was great all around: song, performance, energy

He is in the convo
12953656, Damn when this nigga get husky?
Posted by DJPoke, Fri Jan-08-16 01:28 AM
Song is eh. He just ain't for me.
12953660, Damn this is good. Kid is nice.
Posted by Errol Walton Barrow, Fri Jan-08-16 02:50 AM
I think I like Untitled 1 better, but I'd take stuff like this any day. One of those things you don't see on network television all the time.
12953676, Future better...

12953705, I don't know if we've ever seen this in Hip Hop before
Posted by DVS, Fri Jan-08-16 09:25 AM
Kendrick is the closest Rap Jazz artist I've ever seen.

Goddamn I hope he keeps this up.

D
12953737, that's a great way to put it. he's doing his thing. and it was
Posted by poetx, Fri Jan-08-16 10:20 AM
interesting that i saw this a day or so after i saw the clip of KRS interviewing Rakim, who explained that a lot of what differentiated and shaped his style was patterning his cadence after john coltrane solos.

that was such a lightbulb moment.

and then fast forward and watch kendrick do this shit.

i also dug the interview, and the fact that fallon even afforded him that opportunity. very dope.

peace & blessings,

x.

I'm an advocate for working smarter, not harder. If you just
focus on working hard you end up making someone else rich and
not having much to show for it. (c) mad
12953763, Kendrick uses his flow like an instrument
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jan-08-16 10:45 AM
Not his voice, but his flow. He usually doesn't stay in the same pattern for very long, and almost never for a whole verse. It's almost like a sax solo or something. It's mercurial.
12953822, That's exactly what Rakim is saying about his own flow in the interview
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Fri Jan-08-16 11:43 AM
with KRS.

>Not his voice, but his flow.

12953816, Yes, has he ever confirmed that he's a jazz head?
Posted by kwez, Fri Jan-08-16 11:37 AM
Coz this felt so much like a jazz performance, the structure, the changes, the jamming out at the end.
12953998, he is in circles with Kamasi Washington
Posted by DVS, Fri Jan-08-16 01:56 PM
and Terrace Martin is all over TPAB so yeah...he's a head or at least in tune with the young guns in the form.

12953726, That kid is AMAZING!!
Posted by RaphaelSoulLee, Fri Jan-08-16 10:02 AM
That is all
12953740, Seriously who is better live in the rap world?
Posted by soken, Fri Jan-08-16 10:26 AM
I wish more emcees would work there voices more when it comes to the live show. Additionally, you can tell he runs his patterns with that of the instrumentals which what vocals should do. Props
12953750, Amazing performance
Posted by 13Rose, Fri Jan-08-16 10:32 AM
Dope song. I dig I dig.
12953818, kenny been eatin

12954005, Joe could afford to do a sit up
Posted by 13Rose, Fri Jan-08-16 02:00 PM
He's on that Schoolboy Q diet.
12954057, Pretty sure it's just because he had a thick flannel on over a hoodie
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jan-08-16 02:51 PM
I've got a thick sweater that makes people think I've put on weight.
12954055, But, some folks tawnbout A$AP Rocky is better... ROTFL

Seriously, I truly believe, and I said this via Facebook also. He is "The One" for this decade. He is able to reach the old heads (like us) and the young'ns. We all appreciate his music.

That was the entire shit!
12954332, killed it
