12942512, Looks good....we'll see....days of future past was just ok to me...so
Posted by blkprinceMD05, Fri Dec-11-15 10:06 AM
Glad to see Sansa getting that work!
12942621, quiet as kept, both films in the reboot have been mediocre
Posted by John Forte, Fri Dec-11-15 01:14 PM
12942635, ehh IMHO
Posted by ThaAnthology, Fri Dec-11-15 01:27 PM
I actually enjoyed them. Days was not as action-packed as I'd hoped but it was a good watch.
12942638, First Class was fun upon first watch, silly and tedious on rewatch
Posted by John Forte, Fri Dec-11-15 01:28 PM
12942790, I guess
Posted by ThaAnthology, Fri Dec-11-15 04:19 PM
But for me that's darn near every movie after I rewatch a few times.
12942643, Yep.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Dec-11-15 01:30 PM
12942804, if they mediocre what you think about most of these mcu flicks?
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Dec-11-15 04:41 PM
cause the new xmens better than bout all of em except Winter Soldier.
12942807, LOLZ. no.
Posted by BigReg, Fri Dec-11-15 04:51 PM
First Class, like we discussed below, falls apart outside of Magneto vs Prof. X

Days of Future Pass helped a bit by throwing Wolvie in the mix, but even then I don't remember one fucking thing that happened in the movie.

On top of the fact that visually those films all kinda look washed and kinda cheap considering they probably cost a billion dollars.

They are just ok comic book movies, which is a shame considering that the X-Men were one of the first to kick off the revolution and X2 remains a highlight of the genre.

But if I had to rank em vs the MCU movies the 60's Xmen movies are in that Thor category. Not bad, solid in points, but kinda shrugworthy across the board.
12943634, RE: LOLZ. no.
Posted by murph71, Mon Dec-14-15 06:10 PM

I think u guys are being way too hard on those last two X Men movies....

This shit ain't Citizen Kane...lol

R those films entertaining, action packed and with some cool ass special effects? Yep...

Both of those films were better than any of the other X Men flicks....

I'm baffled how anyone could think differently...
12942813, *spit take*
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Dec-11-15 05:01 PM
12942837, It's the Truth. y'all mcu fanboyism is peculiar

12942992, it's flat out bizarre.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Dec-12-15 02:19 PM
maybe im watching different movies.

like GOTG, Winter Soldier and Avengers 1 are undeniably dope. but the rest of them (bar AntMan which i havent seen yet) all range from mediocre to outright trash.

other than X3 i wouldn't take any of the other MCU flicks over the Xmen flicks.
12942937, 100% correct
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Dec-12-15 03:31 AM
I wont use the "fanboy" thing cause its cliche but these Marvel films are wild over-rated. And all the villains have been garbage outside of one or two. Once people co-signed that Iron Man 3 twist i knew they were clouded by the marvel brand. That film was terrible.
12942988, wha????
Posted by blkprinceMD05, Sat Dec-12-15 01:13 PM
12943042, Only on OKP are these movies mediocre

12942517, I'm in.
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Dec-11-15 10:09 AM
Dunno how good it will be, but I like that they realize how many different stories there are that they can tell... instead of going the Spiderman/Hulk/F4/Batman route and reboot reboot reboot - origin story x4
12942519, not gonna lie the mainline xmen flicks are my fav superhero joints
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Dec-11-15 10:16 AM
this looks dope.
12942523, Jubliee!

YASSSSSSSSS!!!!!
12942524, Cautiously optimistic
Posted by BigReg, Fri Dec-11-15 10:22 AM
Out of all the current comic movie properties I think the X-Men have the best storylines to draw from as far as source material is concerned and thus the best poised to truly make a cinema classic.

At the same time their execution has been just ok. The current round of films isn't as bad as some of the lowpoints (xmen 3) but they haven't had a movie as good as Xmen 2 yet.
12942527, FC to me is the head and shoulders #1
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Dec-11-15 10:35 AM
The Fassbender/McAvoy stuff makes it unfukwitable in my mind
12942538, Everything else was so bad though
Posted by BigReg, Fri Dec-11-15 11:02 AM
>The Fassbender/McAvoy stuff makes it unfukwitable in my mind

Zoey Kravitz's horrible 'Mothra' attack scenes in the end..or just generally how limp that ending was.

I think that's the problem; they still aren't able to make it a good ensemble movie outside of the main leads. All the last one did was add a third strong character but everyone else felt like ehh.

Like X2 made you even like Pyro (who the fuck is Pyro) of all people, lol
12942550, thats true in a lot of ways
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Dec-11-15 11:16 AM
But it didnt feel like it was even trying to be an ensemble movie

It felt like a Magnus & Xavier movie, and that allowed me to filter out some of the things I didnt like, and treat them like extraneous trifles. Jennifer Lawrence had to overcome some bad writing, which was definitely noticeable given some of the stuff other characters got. Fassbender gets "My parents had no names..." and she gets "Mutant...and proud!"?? Cmon.

Also only Banshee resonated as a character with me among the youth set.

But still...Fassbender, McAvoy, and Kevin Bacon's best work in a loooooong time are more than enough for me.

Actually im gonna mention it again since i should have put him in my first reply...Kevin Bacon was outstanding.
12942642, Jennifer. Lawrence. Is. Terrible. As. Mystique.
Posted by John Forte, Fri Dec-11-15 01:30 PM
12942657, Pyro was a staple of the X Men comics in the 80's tho
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Fri Dec-11-15 01:43 PM
>Like X2 made you even like Pyro (who the fuck is Pyro) of all
>people, lol

Posted by PoppaGeorge, Fri Dec-11-15 01:48 PM
There's a very brief scene in FC when Erik and Charles approach Wolverine in a bar to recruit him along with the other mutants...

12942885, there is no young Wolverine, he's VERY old
Posted by jrocc, Fri Dec-11-15 07:12 PM
the last time he was young was in the mid 1800's.
12942669, I think my biggest gripe is that Apocalypse should have been played
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Fri Dec-11-15 01:56 PM
by Ving Rhames.

At least in my head he would have been the actor with the proper build and voice to play En Sabah Nur.

12942798, Yeah apocalypse voice is throwing me off
Posted by illEskoBar221, Fri Dec-11-15 04:32 PM
I grew up off the cartoon and his voice was a little robotic but
I could definitely see and hear ving In that role
12942989, whenever I think of apocalypse I think of *that* cartoon voice

12942784, This is Epic. No one can seriously complain about this.

But there will be someone that thinks they could have made a better movie when in fact they can't even make a better coloring book.

12942830, ionno... this trailer didnt move me.
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Dec-11-15 05:16 PM

people hated the Barman 's Superman trailer but that shit had me hype.

12942795, RE: X-Men: Apocalypse first trailer
Posted by Tiggerific, Fri Dec-11-15 04:30 PM
I can't wait to see this shit!!! :)
12942840, why is Jennifer Lawrence such a thing
Posted by astralblak, Fri Dec-11-15 05:26 PM
I mean she was awesome in Winter's Bone and Silver Linings, but she seems miscast or mediocre in most other things
12942866, how dare you
Posted by will_5198, Fri Dec-11-15 06:19 PM
but yeah, I agree. she seems to be going through the motions in Hunger Games and X-Men. or she simply can't pull them off.
12942867, I think she got worse as the Hunger Games progressed.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Dec-11-15 06:23 PM
She's working her ass off in the first, but in subsequent installments she seems resentful of having to be there still (or maybe the material is letting her down).

She's been very ungood in the X-Men movies, but then again, the writing in these new X-Men movies has been pretty consistently bad (save for Fassbender, who breathes life into the movies every time he's on screen and sucks it away the second he leaves).
12942871, I sure am glad you're here to explain everything
Posted by Mgmt, Fri Dec-11-15 06:29 PM

Posted by Riot, Fri Dec-11-15 07:42 PM
shes one of those ppl that fall upwards

agreed that hunger games got worse over time.
most times she just seems in over her head

but julia, sandra, and paltrow are 'aging out', and they dont like hathaway or heigl

but if 'joy' sells, then props to her
12942863, Mohawk Storm so that's cool
Posted by Atillah Moor, Fri Dec-11-15 06:08 PM
12943007, it's kinda aggravating to me though...
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Sat Dec-12-15 05:38 PM
They've rewritten so much of the XMen's backstory that shit's confusing now.

Mohawk Storm is the leader of the Xmen (though Cyclops is their battle commander) as well as the Morlocks. She was never one of Apocalypse's horsemen in the comic and for that matter neither was Magneto.

Looking at the trailer several times, looks like Havok will be the disposable member. Wonder how much screen time he will get?
