Porn Audio Plays Over Target PA Systems In Northern California

Target shopper Gina Young was with her twins in the chain's Campbell, California store Wednesday when someone began playing the audio from a porno over the store's PA system. She recorded it for posterity and posted it to Youtube and Instagram as you can see above. And, hilariously, one of her three-year-old twins asked of the moaning woman blaring over the speakers, "Is she hurt?"
Says Young, "People offered to help me cover my twins' ears. Others threw their stuff down and walked out. Employees were running around everywhere. Picking and hanging up phones, which worked… for about two minutes before it started up again."
In the video you can sort of see a couple of employees rushing, somewhere, to fix this.
Funnily enough, this is not an isolated incident! As the SF Chronicle notes, something similar happened in July at a Target store in San Luis Obispo, which led to a brief evacuation of the store.
The LA Times got a Target spokesperson on the phone who said the company is investigating the incident, and they “want our guests to know that we take this very seriously.” The spokesperson adds, “We are actively reviewing the situation with the team to better understand what happened and to help ensure this doesn’t happen again."
Was this a marvelous prank by a clever hacker? Or have two different managers plugged their laptops into the wrong jack on their lunch breaks in two different towns?
In any event: hilarious.

Update: As KTVU and others are reporting, this is at least the fourth such instance of what appears to be a serial hacking job dating back to April, with two other California stores, in Colma and Tulare, also both experiencing similar porn audio attacks.

all you have to do is pick up one of the red phones and push certain numbers and you are in the PA system. Anyway who worked at Target or watched someone do it, can easily take over any PA in Target. It happened at one I worked at but it was just kids being jerks. No porn.

CompUSA was like that, Best Buy still might be like that, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Staples, CVS.

Considering the toddler in this story didn't recognize the sounds he heard I don't see how he or any other toddler is harmed by hearing porn audio. They lack context and won't even connect it to sex. But if they do - so what? It's just sex.

most if not all societies adhere to some type of moral baseline when it comes to how their citizens interact. In America we generally consider it morally questionable if not irresponsible to subject kids to excessive sexual imagery or behavior before we (parents, guardians, etc.) feel they are ready to learn or understand such things. So that's why not to those of us who believe in the concept or idea of morality.

To those who have little, none, or less of a moral outlook than those who would find such a thing as exposing young children to pornography to be morally suspect it would likely be a non-issue.

like the chick's in full on Peyton Manning audibles at the line style, the fuck context does a toddler have to know what's going on other than "that's were," or indeed "is that woman being hurt?"

Obviously, that shouldn't happen. But the reaction is way, way, overboard.

it sounds like you're trying to be cute about something instead of just saying what you mean. i'm not picking up what you're putting down. make it plain.

or maybe they don't consider it an issue of morality at all -- or maybe it's a combination of the two.

I saw a dude at the sprint store playing music via bluetooth off his phone. I noticed because he got a call, so the ringing went over the PA system in the store.

I was managing a chain of big box gyms(gold's, lifetime fitness, type places). This was back in like '96 when VHS tapes still existed. I had been temporarily assigned to our location in Corpus Christi, TX, which has about 300,00 people and is pretty conservative/religious.

On a Sunday afternoon, one of the members said he had a video of the Mr. Olympia, and wondered if we could play it while he lifted and did cardio. Sure, no problem, it's fitness related and on a Sunday afternoon only a handful of people are in the gym.

There are a few guys in the weight room, but a decent amount of women on the cardio equipment, and we had about 30 TV's that this is playing on.

Apparently dude forgot he taped over a porn, so when the Olympia ended, it went straight to some hardcore gangbang shit. I'm in my office, one of the members comes and grabs me and says, hey you might wanna check this out, I look out toward the cardio section and see the TV's, I'm like holy shit, and run and go change it.

There were like 7-8 women in the cardio section watching it, not one complaint...It had been on the porn section for at least 45 minutes.

Motivation. I would probably watch porn while working out. I don't know if that's weird.
