12909392, Someone explain the Christian obsession with symbols
Posted by double negative, Fri Oct-09-15 04:01 PM
its not just christians.....but I've seen folks for years obsess over this crazy shit.

shit like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bntfUA6TmLs

or when people try to call out Illuminati symbolism

ok, so here is my really stupid question about this

why would the bad people want to let their presence be known? if you are smart enough to get to the point of influencer then why would you want to wreck your position by waving the flag? wouldnt you want to push your agenda forward by keeping a tight lip?

further....what is the end game if symbolism is found? you cant convert a person to christianity by referencing a bible verse (http://martybarrett.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/09cup.jpg) as much as converting a group of young impressionable teens to satan by adding some obscure symbolism to a soda can.

also, what about this shit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMgGC9W-ks8

so you mean to tell me designers designed money to fold to have hidden meanings? and if so...why? why tell on yourself?
12909398, if you believe in one mystical thing

why wouldn't you believe in the rest.

you already believe the entire world is guided by invisible hands, so it's no stretch. also, you lean more on faith (and probably some trust in whoever told you the theory) than "worldly" logic

that most of this stuff goes directly against all the christian stuff they claim to believe doesn't matter as much

It doesn't make sense, but its not supposed to.
12909851, On a serious note Christian are not obsession with symbols
Posted by Case_One, Mon Oct-12-15 12:48 PM
Obsession with anything is nothing more than Idol worship and that is a sin within the Christian doctrine. Nevertheless, all faith and belief systems have symbols and they use them accordingly. So, I can't respond to something that's not true or that seeks to promote a side agenda.

Now I'm going to side-step the ambiguity of the question and ask that you provide a solid straight forward question about Christianity and Symbols and I will try to respond.

1. The post title was written to be click bait which is why the first sentence says "not just Christians"

2. I've found a lot of anecdotal examples of extreme forms of Christianity really sticking to calling out found symbology and drawing half baked conclusions from it. Am I saying all Christians do this? No way. But I am saying that if I see a video or a post somewhere talking about the satanic/illuminati connection to a visual artifact the person behind it is almost always a fringe Christian
12909858, But really the real questions is...

How can people be so sure symbolism has that much power? Placing a biblical scripture on a cup has as much power to convert as the mere presence of say a pentagram
