12899689, any OKPs have a govt clearance? SF-86 questions Posted by j., Mon Sep-21-15 07:48 PM
I have a Secret clearance from my time in the Navy but I understand those expire in 5 years, am I correct? and now I'm applying for some secret squirrel shit and this form is damm near a 100 pages long *insert ain't nobody got time for that meme*
In the Navy a contractor interviewed me for a half hour and I got my clearance within a month have a feeling it won't be that smooth this time
What was your experience like?

12899714, I've never gotten a clearance as a civilian, but Posted by John Forte, Mon Sep-21-15 08:51 PM
The ones you get in the military expire two years after separation.

OP would have to get a new personnel security investigation. the 5 (TS), 10 (secret), 15 (confidential) year thing only applies if you're within that two-year window of separation

12899767, Last time I dealt with any of it I was told they're fast-tracking people Posted by PoppaGeorge, Tue Sep-22-15 01:07 AM
'cause there's not enough people with clearances that can fill the jobs that are vacant.
IIRC it was an act of Congress that got the ball rolling on shortening the amount of time it takes to get even an interim clearance.
I went through it for a DoE Q clearance. shit was done start to finish in about a month but while waiting and getting shit ready to relocate I got a far more lucrative offer so we stayed in AZ. ---------------------------
