12892917, crop it. increase focal point.
Posted by double negative, Mon Sep-07-15 01:24 PM
those lights on the bottom take away from the impact of the contrast.
the light at the top takes away from the impact of the contrast.
the dead space to the right takes away from the rhythm of window-window-window.
12892921, ^^^^^^

12892924, Interesting. I had it window window window and if felt cramped.

Thanks for the critiques though.

They are appreciated (c) Tupac
12892951, shit, you could crop it down to just two windows it would still work.
Posted by double negative, Mon Sep-07-15 04:50 PM
12893076, I was hoping to get that 3rd window in the shot
Posted by bentagain, Tue Sep-08-15 10:13 AM
completes the contrast of characters, IMO

but yeah, cropping it vertically makes sense

but I want a complete 3rd window

like the photo though
12893113, the elements need to be odd.
Posted by Kwesi, Tue Sep-08-15 10:42 AM
even elements are static/boring.
12892919, I dig it & already liked it. Reminds me of this Rober Frank shot

I think every photographer should have a copy of it

12892962, i like it. could we see with a sharper focal point?
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Mon Sep-07-15 06:40 PM
12892980, It's with an iPhone so no lol.
Posted by lightworks, Mon Sep-07-15 08:35 PM
12893051, being a phone, i think your composition is supposed to be spot-on.
Posted by Kwesi, Tue Sep-08-15 09:30 AM
all the other elements are freed so your focus should be on cropping.

those two lights at the bottom and the slanted edge of the platform are taking away.

keep to three windows.

your options for cropping are less as a result of it being a phone, too.
12893082, you still shooting with the DSLR?
Posted by double negative, Tue Sep-08-15 10:20 AM
12893241, Yup. Just don't have it on me 24/7 like I do my phone.
Posted by lightworks, Tue Sep-08-15 12:06 PM
12892991, For the REAL people that will see it, it's good. leave it alone.

12893325, imo, there shouldn't be "right" or "wrong" in art. its all subjective, no?
Posted by Damali, Tue Sep-08-15 01:30 PM
>it does need to be cropped.
>The left side is distracting

the left side makes the photo feel like movement...it gives you the sense that the pic was captured while the train was in motion and that there is more to see...in fact, it made me want to see what else was there...wishing i could slide the frame to the side a little more and get a peek... which is a good thing, if someone feels that about a piece of art...

on one hand, variety is good

but what if she makes this her life work where all she does is shoot the metro? could you imagine the retrospective for that 40 years from now?
12893057, I'm gonna err with maybe not....

Yeah I could. It would be a whole bunch of pictures of the freakin' metro.

If you were trying to capture something more, I could see it. Like one local photog I know did an M St. project where he shot one end of M St. DC to the other, crossing sectors in the city. Had a nice exhibit too.

If it were shots that told more of a story other than just exercises in symmetry, it would be more interesting.
