but how knew housing would go nuts the way it did? The wife actually wants to rent out this house and buy another right now. We bought real low and have over 100k in equity right now. Our mortgage is $1400 a month we could easily get $1800-2000 a month in rent. But I just wouldnt feel right about the risk unless I was working full time again. That way if we ever lose our renters and have to pay 2 mortgages ourselves it wouldnt be an issue. We also have the option to rent an apartment while we rent this spot out for a while. But I cant go from 2700 sq ft to a tiny ass apartment. But yeah it is definitely something that we are looking at.
