12863953, Is there another album just as good as The Chronic, 2001, Doggystyle

I like The Chronic, 2001, and Doggystyle. Is there another Death Row/West Coast album just as good as these albums?

lmao @ the skits on The Chronic

Dude: Oohhhh, I'm ready to fuck some shit up now, baby
Chick: Ohh, you can come on and fuck me up
Dude: Hmm, hmm, triple cheeseburger
Chick: Awww, you're just talking about some food

loooooooooooooool
12863958, early Death Row really don't sound like nothing else.
Posted by IkeMoses, Sun Jul-26-15 03:25 PM
lots of niggas (east coast and west) tried to imitate it, of course, but nobody else nailed it. so if you're looking for more of that sound, you not really gonna find it.

there's a lot of dope west coast shit, but it don't sound like Death Row, so i don't know what to tell you.
12863960, Maybe an NWA album was just as good?

12863965, what i'm saying is there are hella west coast albums just as good
Posted by IkeMoses, Sun Jul-26-15 03:35 PM
(if not better)

from Compton's Most Wanted, Cube, Above the Law, King T, lots of niggas.

it's just that they don't really have the same vibe at all.

they ain't good in the same way.

so if you're looking for more of that, you won't really be satisfied.

honestly, both those groups kinda his their west coast twang on their debuts.

I was thrown off when Souls started sounded real Oakland hard R on their second album.
12863966, i always liked Dogg Food more than The Chronic...

Kurupt will never get the respect he deserves as an MC.

Or Daz as a producer. His sound is more Death Row to me than Dre's is.

He fell off HOARD but his early writing was fucking impeccable. The work he did on Doggz Day Afternoon, for example....christ.

Dogg Food waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay way way more.

And people don't even realize how much it inspired other songs/artists/albums. I feel like Trillville "Some cut" = "Bomb ass pussy." And the hook on "And then what" from Jeezy/Mannie Fresh also came from "Bomb ass pussy."

The funny thing is that 20+ years later rap demographics have changed and anything coming out of Texas now is no longer considered to be West Coast. Now in 2015, i guess it's to be labeled as Southern rap.

Texas has always been considered Southern rap. We never considered Scarface or the Geto Boys West Coast. D.O.C. was considered West Coast because of his affiliation with N.W.A. and Dre.
12864347, Man, listen...No one in SC, GA, AL, or FL ever thought of TX as

southern rap until the mid 90's.

12865554, on the West we never considered Texas as West Coast

"Southern Rap" wasn't even a thing until the mid 90's.

Before that it was more like..."Oh that's memphis rap", "houston Rap",
"New Orleans rap", etc. in the South.

And they're also right. No one even knew DOC was from Texas until like
the early 2000's lol. Outside of Dallas that is.

12864871, WoW, I can't tolerate 2001
Posted by Starks dunked on Bulls, Mon Jul-27-15 09:16 PM
I don't know what it is. Maybe I can't stand Eminem. Plus Eminem writing Dre's lyrics. Something about this album is highly corny to me.

The Chronic is raw but 2001 feels watered down.

I was also listening to Doggystyle and it's straight.

Another thing I noticed is on The Chronic there's these skits about "Africans," I think that's where Marshawn Lynch got his "Where my true African's at?"
12865684, I don't fuck with 2001 either. Aftermath Dre ain't really dope.
