I don't even argue that it's not God they're hearing. I've just observed that when people make grand declarations about God speaking to them, it tends to come with an irrational sense of self-importance. Again, if you think the Most HIgh Creator is speaking to you directly, it'll pump your head up. I'm not sure how one can retain humility in that case. I just find it interesting.
