12843810, are you or do you know anyone who is asexual? Posted by Somnus, Wed Jul-01-15 02:31 PM

*chews apple obnoxiously*

12843816, quite a few actually Posted by BigJazz, Wed Jul-01-15 02:33 PM
they are women who have given up on finding suitable companionship. they take that energy and focus on the rest of their lives...

12843824, But they're still attracted to men, right? Even if they don't act on it Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Wed Jul-01-15 02:35 PM

12843837, it doesn't matter. i consider them asexual because of the complete lack Posted by BigJazz, Wed Jul-01-15 02:41 PM
of interest.
it's like i'm sitting right here and there's a glass of water sitting right there. and it's available. nice & cold.
but all i do is sit there.
does it matter whether i like water or not? i don't think it does. my definition focuses on the lack of interest. the complete indifference...

12843848, From Wiki: Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Wed Jul-01-15 02:44 PM
"Asexuality (or nonsexuality) is the lack of sexual attraction to anyone, or low or absent interest in sexual activity. It may be considered the lack of a sexual orientation, or one of the variations thereof, alongside heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality."
Hmm, I guess that fits then. So does that mean you can be born asexual, or that you can change to feeling this way later in life? Or is orientation a conscious choice? This is probably a whole different discussion.
|
12843853, prolly both: a small % were born asexual but the overwhelming majority Posted by BigJazz, Wed Jul-01-15 02:46 PM
were turned off over time...

12844176, How did you test them? Make them watch magic mike Posted by ndibs, Wed Jul-01-15 07:04 PM
And carefully study their reactions ?

12844241, DJ is getting there Posted by lfresh, Wed Jul-01-15 08:33 PM
But yes yall are picking up on people volunteering folks for this designation As opposed to people labeling themselves That's a problem

12844183, If these women have sexual exploits or short term relationships Posted by ndibs, Wed Jul-01-15 07:12 PM
They may not talk about them. There is a stigma to women who bring around a dif guy to every gathering or sleep around. I never mention anyone to friends or family unless it's serious. So I can go long stretches without mentioning anyone.

12843850, I know one girl who claims it. Posted by Teknontheou, Wed Jul-01-15 02:45 PM
I've read about it in other people. It seems to be overwhelmingly beautiful women who claim it. Have no idea why that would be the case, though.
|
12843855, and the ones i know don't proclaim it because they dont even care enough Posted by BigJazz, Wed Jul-01-15 02:47 PM
about sex to tell you that they don't care about sex

12843862, Only reason I know about the one girl is because I was Posted by Teknontheou, Wed Jul-01-15 02:50 PM
hollering. She was trying to explain to me why she didn't want to ever mess around with me or hardly anyone else for that matter. She said she thought she might be a lesbian and tried to messing with girls but realized she didn't really like them either.

12843918, Does she still want a relationship tho? Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Wed Jul-01-15 03:12 PM
|
12843928, I guess you could say so. Posted by Teknontheou, Wed Jul-01-15 03:15 PM
It's a moot point now because she moved back home last year, but at the time, I think she would have liked that. But she was mature enough to realize that dating someone sexual (long-term) is not going to be enjoyable to at least one of the people in the relationship.

Hopefully she joined a social networking site dedicated to asexuality or something.

12843872, People have varying sex drives Posted by Ted Gee Seal, Wed Jul-01-15 02:53 PM
It doesn't take a leap of imagination to think that if you have a spectrum of variance there are people who are at zero on the far side.
Good to have you back, by the way.

12843990, i often wish i was asexual Posted by NikaMandela, Wed Jul-01-15 04:03 PM

12844059, One really good friend pretty much was. Posted by Atillah Moor, Wed Jul-01-15 05:14 PM
He was the type to not invest in anything he couldn't master of fully comprehend to an extent. He's paranoid schizophrenic/delusional now.

12844087, Yes. Posted by soulpsychodelicyde, Wed Jul-01-15 05:29 PM
And at the risk of the streets watchin', it has been quite the head-scratcher for the whole crew.
They, literally, have NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER in 15+ years mentioned a paramour or even a date of any kind. No one has ever known them to even express interest or a crush.
The first thought, of course, was that they were gay and wasn't out to us/them/whomever. But then we thought there are two people in our core crew who are gay so we think that if they were, they'd know that we don't give a shit and come out. But nothing.
So we've settled on asexual because we really can't think of anything else.

12844159, Prob got a furry fetish or kink they indulge in Posted by ndibs, Wed Jul-01-15 06:47 PM

12844237, I'm not sure if they are asexual or just incredibly private Posted by bigkarma, Wed Jul-01-15 08:28 PM
There are a few people I've known for years and they have never mentioned the opposite sex...or even the same sex for that matter.
For example, I have a co-worker who I have worked closely with for maybe eight years now, and I have never heard her hint about being in a relationship. I've never even heard her refer to a relationship in the past.
Her lifestyle is even more confusing. She a mid-40ish, heavyset white woman, with a Betty Page haircut and tats. She's into the whole nerdy scene...sci-fi and cosplay. She lives with her sister and has a side gig writing romance novels for gay men.
I have no idea what bag she's in, although I half expect to see her turn up in an AdWhizzz photo shoot one day.

12844240, is that really a thing tho? Posted by melmag, Wed Jul-01-15 08:33 PM
always assumed it was a boutique label for snooty chix. is it a disorder of some kind?
|
12844331, Yeah, I was alluding to that up top. Posted by Teknontheou, Wed Jul-01-15 10:33 PM
I suspect a lot of it is top-of-the-food-chain women who are just super hypergamous and therefore aren't satisfied with hardly any of the men they meet.

13528250, Man would love an update on all the people mentioned here. Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Aug-20-26 10:35 AM

13528263, my cousin is asexual. Posted by tariqhu, Fri Aug-21-26 09:03 PM
she's not interested in having any type of relationship. and definitely not looking for physical attention. has never expressed interest in dating.

13528271, RE: are you or do you know anyone who is asexual? Posted by madwriter, Mon Aug-24-26 09:16 AM
interesting assumptions. How come some y'all haven't ask your friend directly. They may not even realize what they are? And being asexual doesn't mean don't want companionship or don't love. as someone said there are spectrums.
