I'm supposed to be having one made but its going too slow and I want to do it myself. The folks trying to make it for me want it to feature new music I'm doing with them, but I'm interested in linking songs independent from them.

What features do you need, do you need unlimited bandwidth, dedicated hosting, FTP, etc..GoDaddy isn't as terrible as lots of people would like to say, but it is far from the best. If it suits your needs, go with it.

what is the top action that you would like users to do when checking out your website? what are the secondary and tertiary actions too?
list those and from there you can begin to formulate what type of platform you need to accomplish the desired action.
don't just have a website to say you have a website.
have a website that converts into some type of action that is beneficial to you and your career.
