Producer yea but beat maker nah. fyi a producer does not have to beat . Dre is the Quincy Jones of Rap. Also is it ghost produces if they are in the linear notes.
12814609, ^^ this part especially^^

"Also is it ghost produces if they are in the linear notes."

People stay misusing the term ghostwriter or ghostproducer. Each person is credited and listed in the liner notes. So, they're getting paid properly. If you're getting credited, you're not ghosting. You're a paid collaborator/contributor. It's no secret how Dre works. He doesn't hide it, like at all.

12850187, Except the time he claimed he did Got My Mind Made up
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Fri Jul-10-15 05:46 AM
Or the other times he's tried to steal beats.
12814012, I'd rather have Quik on the west coast
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Mon May-25-15 05:24 PM
not counting the rest of the country
12814528, Battlecat better
Posted by The3rdOne, Tue May-26-15 12:24 PM
12850172, Than Quik?
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Fri Jul-10-15 02:47 AM

12850542, RE: Battlecat better

12814324, Alchemist himself would laugh at you for saying this.
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue May-26-15 10:39 AM
12850274, Dj Muggs better too. And Timbaland. and Erick Sermon.
Posted by guru0509, Fri Jul-10-15 08:33 AM
12850568, I'll give you Erick Sermon
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Fri Jul-10-15 01:12 PM
Erick Sermon does it all himself, including a few live instruments.

Muggs... I've enjoyed his output more than Dre's for a long time but he just doesn't have enough of it to say he's better.

Tim??? Hell nawl.

12814323, LOL.
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue May-26-15 10:39 AM
12851551, And it's just a personal preference thing. Like I dig some of his music...
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Sun Jul-12-15 07:15 PM
but just don't love it.
12850876, basically. If he's #1, then Puffy's #2, right?
Posted by Castro, Fri Jul-10-15 09:17 PM
12851554, Pretty much. I can like some of your songs, but not be in my Top 10

12850882, There was a time when this post would've been flooded with "Dilla"
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jul-10-15 09:34 PM

12851137, I think it's more because they hype train has subsided
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Sat Jul-11-15 08:20 PM
and people have come back to Earth/their senses. Some Lessonheads will tell you as much concerning themselves.
12850931, I knew exactly how this post was gonna go
Posted by makaveli, Sat Jul-11-15 07:32 AM
12851012, Most Midas Touch-y, sure, I mean if he got involved, the shit blew
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jul-11-15 01:40 PM
And that was that.

I like his work but he's not my favorite, I think "best" is such a subjective thing but yes most successful seems fair.
12851043, He's one of the most famous and one of the best, sure, but not THE BEST
Posted by ramaj1, Sat Jul-11-15 02:48 PM
12851045, Has Dre 'truly' produced a track on his own since his Death Row days?
Posted by ramaj1, Sat Jul-11-15 02:49 PM
If I recall correctly, most of his post-1994 output has been ghost-produced by apprentices.
12851863, Man, people really that that "ghost producer" thing way outta hand
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Mon Jul-13-15 11:05 AM
It's more that he uses session musicians than having true "ghost producers" as people say. There's a few beats that are rumored to have been created by someone else, where he just polished them, but it's a great number where he was still the main creator and orchestrator.
