Never thought I'd see the day. But apparently, Universal mounted 4K restorations of both versions (with the 1959 version playing again in revival houses) and here now is a Blu-Ray.

First, Eastmancolor is evil. A small few of the 1959 film's scenes are clearly deteriorating beyond salvation, and have gone slightly blurry much faster than the elements for the 1934 version, which looks consistently great all the way through.

But the vast majority of the film looks better than ever. You can count every eyelash in Susan Kohner's face.
