12812679, You wear a suit to work and everybody loses their minds
Posted by rdhull, Fri May-22-15 11:29 AM
Like the Joker said in the Dark Knight

I had to do a different area and decided as a honcho was going to be present etc that I'd wear button up, tie, suit coat, slacks

Man... Folks were complimentary as hel, some were thinking I was from headquarters cause they saw me enter the buildings and didn't know it was me etc etc

Makes me think I should dress up everyday but I hate that thought of you have to dress a certain way all the time depending on ones profession etc
12812685, they say you should always wear a suit for any meeting

12812704, dress like a bum and all the panhandlers ignore you.
Posted by Deadzombie, Fri May-22-15 11:40 AM
the other day i realized the advantage in wearing whatever the fuck you want to.

bums will think you're of them and skip over you during their rounds.

it's kind of a cool ass feeling to not be harassed about change and shit while everyone around you is walking swiftly and trying to decline nicely.
12812715, .lol at 'their rounds'

Posted by rdhull, Fri May-22-15 05:50 PM
thats the one thing besides comfort holdin me back from doin the suit n tie everyday thing
12813242, I've been trying to figure this out myself
Posted by PG, Fri May-22-15 06:28 PM
I like wearing a suit... I want to project that kind of image at my new gig too but the thought of basically swimming in it all summer is not appealing.. in fact it's already to warm for the ones I have.

I'm thinking of looking into what "suits" do about summer.. I'm thinking there must be suits designed for use in warmer weather etc.. I'm guessing I just got get out and do some shopping on it.
12813850, wear seeksucker and other southern shit
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun May-24-15 11:30 PM
that always got me about businessmen in the caribbean. they must have CHRONIC swamp ass. luckily 99.8% of everyone in the caribbean gives zero fucks and has no ambition that would ever require wearing a suit.

12813223, I think this experience is a part of gowning up
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri May-22-15 06:13 PM
I use to spend alot of my life between after college and 30 not thinking about how I dressed or thinking that the work was more important than the appearance, but then,

I had an experience where I "accidentally" dressed nice and noticed how everyone treated me differently.

That shock at how nice I looked directly correlates to how poorly they thought of my appearance before.

Maybe it's unfortunate (or maybe it's a way to control how you can get ahead) but the truth is how you dress shapes how people perceive you.

in opinions and subsequent behavior. i rock tighter gear at the gig on key days, meetings, etc. and while i might not always get the feedback i recognize the benefit i definitely feel a bit more on my A game.
12813786, Yall just really wearing suits randomly to work?
Posted by MEAT, Sun May-24-15 04:33 PM
To the job?

Not to interviews or social engagements, but the places yall have casual Friday's and bad tie Tuesday's is the same place you just randomly showing up in a suit?

That's so damn weird.
12813817, did u not read this part in the op?

12813858, I dislike a lot of things about my job
Posted by MEAT, Mon May-25-15 01:14 AM
But I fit in to get in. I don't need to be a special butterfly to get my pay check.
From this hour to this hour I agree to be this person and outside of that I agree to be left alone.
12813906, thats what I said, ding dong
Posted by rdhull, Mon May-25-15 09:09 AM
My statement says this very same thing

I *dont* wear suit n tie daily to fit in (Im whiye collar status) but *dont* dress white collar to fit in , as expected, etc etc etc
