12806089, QOD: Do you consider yourself to be an Animal or a Human? Posted by Case_One, Fri May-15-15 09:26 AM
And for those that say humans are animals that's just one line of thinking, because there is a debate for the contrary.
But let's discuss.
. . . "Jesus is my Lord and Savior. And if you believe in him can be your's too."

your choice of topics pretty much always guarantee a polar response, i don't know if you plan this out or if it comes naturally, but to answer your question, human beings are definitely not animals.

So I'm curious as to how old you are.

Only organisms which paired with fungi survived the ELE. Without the FUNGI all life would be lost. I did not phrase my statement correctly, and I corrected it in the same post. I guess you chose to ignore my correction so that you could harp on some trivial and irrelevant point you are trying to make in this post.
Like I said. Drop the logical fallacies and try again.

12806253, "Ad hominem" is an attack on a person instead of their argument Posted by Hitokiri, Fri May-15-15 11:19 AM
You haven't made any argument. So... I can't attack an argument that hasn't been made.
But you post like you're 19 and do a lot of drugs. So while that may seem like an attack, I don't mean it as such. I'd like to know if this is true so I can respond accordingly to your future posts. Am I off base here?

Thanks for proving my point, lol. You went after my age to attempt to undermine any argument I made or would make, and you indicated that by pulling an old unrelated example(slippery slope) which I clarified for you.
I was 2 steps ahead the whole time. Sorry bro, try again.

You forgot to include character traits. If you actually knew what it meant you wouldn't dispute that you were guilty of it.

The human is a composite being comprised of animal/mineral/plant matter/stardust etc...
The notion that we are somehow separate from animals does not compute.

That's not true and in many ways human behavior is beneath that of an animal

So yes.
I also happen to enjoy music, and art, and food, and learning, and kindness to my fellow beings (particularly the humans, but also my more distant relatives). Many of my traits are more common in humans than in other animals, others are more universal. The same could be said for any other kind of animal.

12806568, So, who decided that humans were animals? Posted by Case_One, Fri May-15-15 03:03 PM
There is no definitive evolutionary linkage between humans and animals? Yes all life share the same material compositions, but that doesn't mean all life is in the same category. In fact, we share the same material base composition with a banana, but an ape is not an orange, and an apple is not a rock.
So, again, who decided that humans are animals. Shoot, we behave more like a virus, but that's a silly argument - don't you think?
. . . "Jesus is my Lord and Savior. And if you believe in him can be your's too."

12806624, What? Posted by stravinskian, Fri May-15-15 03:33 PM
>There is no definitive evolutionary linkage between humans >and animals?
I'm not sure if that question mark was intentional or not, but there is most definitely an evolutionary linkage between humans and critters that you would definitely call animals. Chimpanzees to name just one. This is not the tiniest bit controversial.
>Yes all life share the same material >compositions, but that doesn't mean all life is in the same >category.
That's a problem with categories, people can choose to define the categories however they like. But the fact that we share a common ancestor with "animals" is not in dispute.
>In fact, we share the same material base composition >with a banana,
We're related to bananas, too. More distantly though.
>but an ape is not an orange,
Indeed, but apes and oranges are both organisms. (Or more precisely an orange tree is an organism.)
>and an apple is >not a rock.
Correct again, but apples and rocks are both material objects. They're both made from the same "starstuff", so there's a connection there, too.
>So, again, who decided that humans are animals.
Biologists defined the taxonomical "kingdom" called Animalia, and it's simply a fact that we, as well as apes, tigers, dolphins, snakes, panda bears, we all happen to satisfy the necessary conditions to fit that taxonomical classification. It's not that big a deal.
>Shoot, we >behave more like a virus, but that's a silly argument - don't >you think?
We behave in some ways like a virus, in other ways not. Viruses behave in some ways like bacteria, in other ways like oranges, in other ways like people, and in other ways like rocks. Isn't Biology fascinating?

for his argument in that anal post. Like... I'm not even sure what point dude was even trying to make either, but people use animals (ducks, dogs, cats, etc) to explain or justify their actions as humans... which makes absolutely no sense, because we ain't dogs and ducks. I don't see niggas eating dead rats without cooking them because a cat did it. Foh comparing your actions to those of damn cats n dogs, lol. Even if you subscribe to the idea of us being animals, you have to cop to the fact that our reasoning and judgment is one of the things that separates us from pigs. Smh.
