12805548, Yeah man. That song was forever on rotation on MTV Hits
Posted by BigReg, Thu May-14-15 03:41 PM
I used to laugh whenever it came out.

Then Umbrella hit...

Ill say this much, it's probably the most successful pop makeover of all time. She went from a vaguely West Indian bubblegum R&B pop singer to this goth pop goddess.
12805869, U ain't lie. And I hated pon the replay. Thought she was a one hit for sure

after his run at Davidson, i wanted him to be good and make it in the league. loved his game. but those first couple seasons with the Warriors he kept getting injured, and i thought he'd end up injury prone and out the league.

That cat murdered the game this season.

12805043, Kendrick. His demo in 04 was decent to me, but it always felt like
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Thu May-14-15 10:45 AM
he copied everyone else out, just like Game did. When he made that "A milli" I was just like "He can flow hard, but he's just imitating Wayne on a Wayne track!" Then OD came, and then Section 80, and it was like................oh!
12805109, Yo I was listening to OD and the KL EP last week...
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu May-14-15 11:22 AM
his artistic growth up to now is nothing short of amazing.
He was a run-of-the-mill underground rapper. He was good, but sounded like an underground rapper. Now... this dude is on a whole 'nother level.
12805234, Yea for real. It showed me that potential means NADA. In 2004, I used
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Thu May-14-15 12:48 PM
to hear a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of rappers, most trying to get on around the time Game did. Some were Kendrick's age at the time, like 15-16, while some were 20-24. And looking at the ones that blew up and are active now? I wouldn't have predicted the majority...while the ones who I thought were dope as hell back then are nowhere at all to be found.

Kendrick just went into complete overdrive and became his own person.
12805079, I never thought hard enough to say "Drake won't blow up" but,
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Thu May-14-15 11:07 AM
when everyone started talking about him out of nowhere in February 09, I was just like "wait, the dude on that song with Dwele and Little Brother?????"
12805106, I saw him rap in an episode of "Degrassi"
Posted by Marbles, Thu May-14-15 11:20 AM

My GF's niece & nephews would watch Degrassi when he was on and we would watch with them when we would hang out. There was an episode where he had to get on stage & rap. And you could tell when he went into it that he rapped for real and those weren't just raps written for a short scene in a TV show.

Still, I didn't think he'd ever get to where he was now. And I was big on "So Far Gone."

I was having an argument with an A&r the december before so far gone. I swore up and down that Wayne was gonna young chris him. I felt like he would drain him of his 'thing' and just use him anD jae millz to stay on top..

He had some shit up his sleeve tho... Slick bastid

12805213, Tom Hardy, Mike Conley, jr.
Posted by Grand_Royal, Thu May-14-15 12:32 PM
I remembered Hardy as Handsome Bob in RockNRolla, but didn't from Layer Cake or Band of Brothers. I never doubted he was a star in the UK, but didn't think he would become one here.

I seriously thought Conley was picked too high and mainly benefited from playing with Oden; boy was I wrong.
