Give a quick rundown of which games stuck with you during each generation.
SNES: Demon's Crest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon%27s_Crest)
Playstation: Final Fantasy VIII...fuck the haters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VIII)
GameCube: Metroid Prime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_Prime)
Xbox: Kotor and Kotor II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_%28series%29)
Xbox 360: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
PC is a little harder to do, but Hexen, Star Wars Battle Front, and Crusader Kings II have been my favorite games for the PC as I've upgraded my computers over the years.
Also...should I buy Shadow of Mordor? It looks good, but damn I'm not sure if it's worth the $40.

>What stopped your advancement system wise?
I barely had time to play games on my PC, let alone the PSX and TG16 I still had at the time. Matter of fact, I told my wife NOT to get me a PS2 for xmas the year I got it (2002) 'cause I probably wouldn't buy any games for it. (I never did... I use it to watch DVD's and play my old PSX games).

My answers are below but you have good choices >Intellivision - Demon Attack sweet ass game. That amd Atlantis are my runners up
>Sega Master System - R-Type i dont remember playing this game actually. you ever play the RC Cars game? I LOVED that
>Sega CD - Samurai Showdown dont remember if i played that or not. I still have mine and i know right where they are. Gonna take a peek over the weekend.
>Sega 32X - Mortal Kombat II this shit was badass.
>Saturn - (tie) Radiant Silvergun/Guardian Heroes
I dont remember if i played either of those. I just remembered an AWESOME saturn game, Burning Rangers. Loved that. Not quite PD but probably my #2

>My answers are below but you have good choices >>Intellivision - Demon Attack >sweet ass game. That amd Atlantis are my runners up
I never did get Atlantis for the Intellivision.
> >>Sega Master System - R-Type >i dont remember playing this game actually. you ever play the >RC Cars game? I LOVED that
Never played that one, I had a bunch of SMS games but the only RC game I had was RC Pro Am for the NES.
> >>Sega CD - Samurai Showdown >dont remember if i played that or not. I still have mine and >i know right where they are. Gonna take a peek over the >weekend.
Best 16 bit console version of the game IMO. Got really close to the original.
> >>Sega 32X - Mortal Kombat II >this shit was badass. >
Better then the SNES version, which was pretty damned good.

NFL 2K5 was the GOAT
it had the realistic look down in that generation (the detail of the uniforms), the non-Goodelled celebrations, Chris fuckin' Berman
and the offense wasn't so freakin' stupid like it could be in the comparable Madden game. You didn't even need the fuckin' vision cone. You also didn't have "Vick" stuff going on in that game, either... LOL

NES: Shit...I chose games so poorly as a kid. I loved Arch Rivals, but I never owned it.
Genesis: NFL '95, just for the straight unabashed cheating. I'd spend a whole Saturday, trading everyone 95+ rated to the Falcons, and go undefeated for seasons at a time. Plus, they'd let D-linemen line up across the LoS, standing right next to the QB. 200+ sacks per season for Reggie White.
N64: Majora's Mask. I'd say it was Stockholm's Syndrome because the game cart was expensive as fuck, and you had to buy the expansion pack, but I'm playing it now on 3DS, and it's still good.
Dreamcast: NFL/NBA 2K. I loved creating WR's, and boosting Vick's ratings, so he'd have 500+ yard games throwing to 6'7" WR's. I still fuck with NBA2K, and the only one I haven't played is 2K9.
Xbox: OG Splinter Cell. Frustrating as shit, I'd leave it alone for months, come back to the same mission and finally figure it out. I tried it and MGS2 on the same day, and SC won out.
360: The Batman Arkham games. Up until Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed was the dopest Batman game ever made.
Xbone: Probably gonna be the new Arkham game.

Arcade: Mortal Kombat II
I left off the Sports games. Between NBA 2K15, Coach K, the First NBA Live and NFL 2K were the best ones

Atari (Sears knock off of the atari system, for real) - Space Invaders or maybe Spy Hunter
NES - Probably Super Mario or Zelda 2 or Double Dribble...nah, eff that...Contra
Genesis - Live 95 or NBA Jam
PSX - honestly probably Jet Moto, but really it should be Soul Blade
PS2 - GTA3 easy
Gamecube - Rogue Leader but i really enjoyed the OG Burnout on GC too
XBOX - OG Splinter Cell
XBOX 360 - crappy system, like pretty much a worthless system to even reminisce on...but IDK, i played GTA4 on that before i got a PS3 so i'll just say that one...
PS3 - RED DEAD REDEMPTION, HANDS DOWN...GTAV was great but Red Dead is the joint.
PS4 - it's been a struggle for me to care about or get invested in this generation, i love the 4 and the controller but i just don't play like i used to...i'll give a shout to MLB The Show franchise though, it's a great game that looks amazing on the 4

I remember the Telestar systems. Atari made those for Sears... Not sure why they did that 'cause they sold enough on their own.
I had the older Atari VCS, the one with wood grain, six switches on the front, and heavier than the 2600. Got that bitch in '79. I remember when Pops brought it to the crib and hooked it up. Combat and Air-Sea Battle was all we had for it and that shit was fun as hell.

12800524, Mine -edit- Posted by BigReg, Fri May-08-15 11:34 AM
NES - Guardian Legend, half the boards were like a space legend of zelda, the other a shot em up. Both halves weren't perfect, but good enough to make a classic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guardian_Legend
SNES - Street Fighter 2 series. Mindless hours of fun poured into this motherfucker...on of my favorite series of all time. Can't wait for 5.
Genesis - Fucking forgot Coach K. Godlike.
Playstation 1 - Tekken 2. Talk about bang for the buck, all the characters, endings, side games..etc. Truly next gen 3d shit. Gran Turismo a close second; racing perfection. I can't imagine the hours I spent on these motherfuckers.
n64 - ALL of AKI's wrestling game, the zenith being WCW/NWO revenge. Nothing like being drunk/high talking shit and fucking your friends up. Goldeneye a close second for the same reasons.
Playstation 2 - Socom 2. The swan song of a real shooter before everything became Halo like halo (death to regenerating health/shields)
Xbox 1 - Crimson Skies. One of the best flying games ive played(and unfortunately to see how the genre has fallen, one of the last), I was even in the top 100 scoreboard for a bit.
Gamecube - F-Zero. Gorgeous and hard as fuck. The epitome of furistic racing games, even the soundtrack was dope.
PS3 - Last Of Us. What a great way to end this generation
Xbox 360 - COD Modern Warfare 2. It may be diminishing returns, but the series is still crack in video game form.

12801963, yeah, cop an emulator, man Posted by hardware, Mon May-11-15 02:17 PM
GBA is like SNES 2.0 a lot of great games a lot of clever ideas
handheld was always cool cause i could do it anywhere and its like having the past gen with current tech so devs get to do a lot of things they couldn't do plus clever new things (the good ones anyway) so that its a real game and not something that can even exist the same way on a console. I don't think a game like Drill Dozer or Sonic Advance 2 would be as good in 3d.

12801665, lol so unfair at times. Posted by Nodima, Mon May-11-15 11:45 AM
they recently put them out on Good Old Games and it's one of the few things (along with GTA V PC and huge Steam sales) that makes me kind of sad I've preferred Macs so much over PCs my whole life.
My parents only got a PC when our original Apple died because I really wanted to play certain games that weren't on Mac and I convinced them it'd be more adaptable, but we had the misfortune of getting into that world during the Gateway/Windows ME era and it totally soured me on PCs forever, especially after the iMac/Macbook redesigns and OS X.

Intellivision - Burger Time
NES - Mega Man 3 SNES - Star Fox N64 - WCW vs NWO & Waverace
Sega Master System - Alex Kidd in Miracle World Sega Genesis - NHL 94 & Sonic 2 Sega CD (lol) - Adventure of Willy Beamish 32X (LOL) - Doom Saturn (smh) - Panzer Dragoon (DOPE game for a flawed system) Dreamcast - underrated system. Virtua Tennis is one of the greatest MPG of all time. Doubles matches legit ended at least 2 friendships in the dorms. NBA2K was close behind. Import Marvel vs Capcom was awesome. Shenmue was incredible. If i had to pick one its VT.
XBOX - March Madness 05 and MVP Baseball. The last great games for those 2 sports. 360 - Mass Effect Trilogy
All that said, NCAA Football and NHL Hockey are my 2 favorite games for every system every year. NHL 94 got special mention for the jump in made from NHLPA 93.

Never played that one.
>32X (LOL) - Doom
I was spoiled on Doom already since I already had it for me and the ex's 486 PC.
>Saturn (smh) - Panzer Dragoon (DOPE game for a flawed system)
I had Panzer Dragoon and loved it (especially loved showing it off, shit was so dope looking), but once I got my hands on Radiant Silvergun, it was over.

'cause for me Mega Man and Mega Man 3 were the joints with the best music. I had Mega Man 2 and beat it, but the replay on it was thoroughly diminished thanks to MM and MM3's superior music.

the GameCube game: Day of Reckoning 2. I should have put that on the list. Even though I forget that I owned Nintendo consoles after the N64 (I have a Wii -- Start Button).
that game reminded me a whole lot of the old AKI games. AI could be just as frustrating. Had a lot of good "non-WWE" finishers. Created characters were lacking, but I actually gave John Cena his -real- finisher in that game ("Yebisu Drop").

12800972, this is tough, and my childhood memories aint perfect Posted by upUPNorth, Fri May-08-15 08:32 PM
i feel like i have to make special mentions for my racing games
NES (is hard, i was so young): Bucky O'Hare stuck with me, i feel like there was this TMNT side scroller i loved
Genesis: was that MJ Moonwalker game on this? I can't even remember, played the hell out of that cuz my family would like it. Whatever NHL year it was back then probably deserves a mention, i think EA's NHL 94. That's back before I gave up on hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
SNES: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars
(glory years below...)
PS1: so tough. FF7 just is. Something kept me from finishing 8, then a friend borrowed it and never returned. and I enjoyed 9 a lot as well (fuck the haters lol). I don't have my copy of Metal Gear Solid anymore either, I need that.
N64: have to give a nod to how much I played World Driver Championship. Preferred it to the Gran Turismo series at the time. Then there was Conker's Bad Fur Day!
Dreamcast: Shenmue. Speed Devils for the racing nod. I miss this system. Virtua Tennis?
Xbox: So tough. What Live brought to some games back then affect my answer. OG Ghost Recon. Moto GP 2. Halo series throughout. Morrowind. Beyond Good and Evil.
360: Skyrim. Mass Effect. I want that revamped Prince of Persia back. Portal.
XONE: I'm playing Destiny lol
PCs: It's a fight between my nostalgia for og Starcraft: BW and the og Roller Coaster Tycoon with expansions. I only had a small window of PC gaming then, and it was always a top down sort of thing to me.

12801697, RE: OKGamers: Your favorite game from each system you've owned? Posted by will_5198, Mon May-11-15 12:11 PM
NES / Super Mario Bros. 3 -- It's truly the best game that system ever produced. Incredible graphics and pure, simple gameplay.
Game Boy / The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening -- I only ever had the original brick-sized, blurred screen portable, so this cartridge was far and away the most played.
SNES / Final Fantasy VI -- The greatest RPG ever from the greatest system ever. Super Mario Bros. 2: Yoshi's Island is a very, very close runner-up.
PlayStation / Metal Gear Solid -- A landmark that changed gaming for the worse (the "game as a movie" syndrome) but was a perfect experience for its time.
Saturn / Nights: Into Dreams -- The best game Yuji Naka and Sonic Team ever created, including every Sonic game before and after. Character design, music, and those boss fights remain amazing, and the gameplay is timeless.
Dreamcast / Marvel vs. Capcom 2 -- Even on the shitty DC pad, this one remains legendary and ridiculously fun. As a Marvel nerd and Capcom lover, the number of characters here was the stuff wet dreams were made of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsfhADiaP5E
PlayStation 2 / Final Fantasy XII -- This came out damn near the death of the system, but that just means the graphics are remarkable and Square Enix had perfected all the other little stuff. Not as memorable story or character wise, but straight up the most fun FF to play. I spent more time on this title than any other in the series, and nine years later it remains the last *real* FF.
Gamecube / Resident Evil 4 -- The little cube didn't get much burn, but this is one exclusive (for a time) that made it all worth it. Every 15 minutes there's a sequence that would be the high point of every other game.
PlayStation 3 / BioShock -- At this point I had checked out of gaming for the most part, but the atmosphere and story drew me back to old times for a bit.
