It's also funny how spaghetti is a side dish in African American homes. My Nana would make spaghetti and fried chicken, spaghetti and fish, etc...

12781623, eh he didn't say anything bad. this isn't unusual for any Posted by teefiveten, Wed Apr-15-15 10:00 AM
immigrant family adapting american food in a way that makes sense for them
not that haitians have ketchup as a staple but it is cheaper and goes a longer way than a pasta sauce (though we also ate pasta w/ regular sauce as we got older)
and there are a few haitian dishes that have tomato based sauces
jimi's fam using tomato paste is probably the OG application but ketchup is more appealing to kids and easier to get right than tomato paste.

12781780, LOL.. Posted by Case_One, Wed Apr-15-15 11:18 AM
My grandmother use to make spaghetti using ketchup and ground beef. Sounds crazy, but that jank was guuder then a mug.

12781620, There is an intern here who eats spaghetti for breakfast Posted by SuiteLady, Wed Apr-15-15 09:59 AM
I am not sure how she prepares it or if she is Haitian, but one of the other interns was laughing about it just yesterday.
She is half Pueto Rican. I don't know what the other half is but she is the same brown as me so it might be Haitian.
side note: when I lived in LA people used to always ask me if I was Haitian, lol
