12778144, Where do you rank King of Queens amongst your favorite sitcom?
Posted by Starks dunked on Bulls, Fri Apr-10-15 03:02 PM
I have them in my Top 5. I've been watching them daily on youtube and they're still funny. It went 9 seasons and was consistent, can't say that about Martin.
12778173, Apartment Complex is a fucking classic

it's prolly top 10.

I still put Fresh Prince, Cosby, Different World, Martin ahead of them due to my blackness but I can't front.. once I started watching the reruns I realized it was a damn good sitcom.

The Father is hilarious.

12778176, King of Queens is probably top 5 for me too...
Posted by Marbles, Fri Apr-10-15 03:27 PM

For me, it was one of the most underrated sitcoms ever.
12778180, definitely underrated.
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Apr-10-15 03:29 PM
the more i think about it...

yeah, it's up there.

12778181, Definitely Top 5 - SUPER underrated comedy.
Posted by spades, Fri Apr-10-15 03:31 PM
Also, some of the REALEST portrayal of black characters.

I really appreciated who and what Deacon was.
12778198, Deacon was a lil docile but Kelly kept it real.
Posted by Monkey Genius, Fri Apr-10-15 03:42 PM
There was a kind of racial awareness about the show that was pretty cool. And, if it was all white folks involved with the writing, they get my respect for that.
12778250, nah, deacon was the perfect representation of a Black friend
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Apr-10-15 04:37 PM
12778338, I ain't like how Deacon turned down reparations, man.

word. from what i remember, for a comedic sidekick character he took no shit. like at all.
12778208, YES

I always liked that Deacon was just another one of the guys. They didn't pull any overtly, stereotypical race storylines out of their asses. Whenever they did touch on race, it was done with humor & respect.

One of my favorite moments ever was when Arthur told Kelly that he was known to partake in some "brown sugar" back in the day.

I got tears in my eyes just thinking about that shit.
12778244, YES!!! I remember than one. Kelly was bad, too.
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Apr-10-15 04:30 PM
.
12778312, my favorite was when Deacon said they didnt have any problems in the bedroom
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Apr-10-15 06:28 PM

Doug asked him if he ever got tired of playing out the stereotype

Deacon responds: nah, do you?
12778331, I loved how they made Deacon authentic

my roommate Owens and I bought every season of KOQ and Scrubs and watched them from beginning to end. Those two will forever be in my top 5.

12778197, Jerry Stiller was so funny on this show
Posted by RobOne4, Fri Apr-10-15 03:41 PM

12778314, he is the X factor

I was surprised at how much I don't find Kevin James funny outside of the show. I think I caught a special of his on Comedy Central and noticed some of the jokes were lifted from the show. But I didn't find him funny in that context.

The show had a lot going for it!!! Loved Deacon, Jerry Still as Arthur, Leah Remini, Patton Oswalt, the "dumb" friend Rich, etc. It was great
12778243, Other way around.
Posted by Monkey Genius, Fri Apr-10-15 04:29 PM
The show lifted jokes from his stand up.
12778259, Woops. Thanks
Posted by dustin, Fri Apr-10-15 04:48 PM
I figured they originated from him either way
12778237, Only show other than Martin that I lol to consistently

12778247, One of the few shows I can re-watch episodes over and over again

I'd say it's a top 10 sitcom
12778316, and still LOL

the episode when Arthur was banging Spence's mom because she was the maid. But when she got fired he was done with her. One of my favorite episodes.

I don't.....
12778503, Top 5 fave, kinda easily. Kevin James is hilarious, Leah Remini so fine
Posted by Geez 216, Sat Apr-11-15 10:46 AM

KJ has it all as a comedic actor; physical comedy, funny voices, he's fat.

Leah Remini is so goddamn fine throughout this show, she's funny as hell too. Carrie is so evil.

The theme song is the fucking shit, too
12778591, reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Von Pea...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Apr-11-15 03:03 PM
"...you're doing the Dougie, I'd rather do the Doug Heffernan...big crib, hot wife...and I'm the author in the basement, nice"
12778595, It doesn't. The few episodes I've seen, I've liked, but honestly
Posted by Lardlad95, Sat Apr-11-15 03:10 PM
I never really got the sense that it was unique enough in the genre to warrant doing the extra work of going back and watching it in earnest.

"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts..." -The Bard
12778609, lol @ extra work.
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Apr-11-15 04:17 PM
12778608, Mos Def in my top 5
Posted by empro, Sat Apr-11-15 04:13 PM
I still sit and watch the re-reuns on tv land

great show
