I went to SXSW a few years ago. My people in LA are in the industry so its networking but still

we rented out a house with a pool, $800 worth of liquor, had VIP passes to all the shows...

after the first night we kinda realized..

NIGGA WE OLD!!!

Dudes were passed out by 10PM.

not proud of it, but it happens, esp after having a few after a long day working from home.

It took open bar Hennesy. Still can't take the taste of it.

I relapsed once but it was a weird one; bartender as hooking us up with free drinks and her manager started to realize what was happening. I was drunk but not THAT drunk. I remember pulling out my card to 'pay' and make it look good...

...I wake up the next day with my apartment door wide open and clothes all over the floor. No idea how I made it home. Now I just quit automatically after 3-4 drinks in unless im at home.

Probably now. 34. Atlanta nightlife used to be fly - dope music, plenty of places to go, well dressed people just chilling. Now it's "turnupturnupturnup!!", music I hate, bars that only have Ciroc and can't make anything outside of a cran & vodka, and people taking pics of themselves every 5 seconds. When I saw a clique of dudes each with selfie sticks in VIP a couple weeks ago, I knew the coffin had closed for me.

Posted by BabySoulRebel, Thu Apr-09-15 04:13 PM
Last year a guy I was seeing bought tickets to the Drake vs Lil Wayne tour when it came to New York and asked me to be his date
even the way he presented it, he knew what my response would be because he asked "You wouldn't say no to me on my birthday...right?"

I almost wished he'd had asked for anal or a threesome instead.

Got my hair done the night before
went to work wearing one of my flyest outfits
we get to the damn show and we're surrounded by nothing but teenyboppers
One of the girls next to us begged us to buy alcohol for her for almost 20 minutes.
he kept whining about how old he felt (he turned 32) and at one point I snapped on him, "what the hell did your ass expect??!!"

All I kept thinking was I would've had hella fun if I went with my little brother who's a huge Drake fan (they share the same birthday) and is also 9 years younger than me.

That situation dissolved a few weeks later and it was all for the best. I didn't know how I was going to explain that I was seriously dating a diehard Drake fan to anyone who actually loves me.

http://www.mixmag.net/news/lil-louis-got-permanent-ear-damage

Lil Louis has confirmed his left ear is permanently damaged.

In a post on Facebook the Chicago pioneer revealed he can "only hear in one ear" after a CO2 cannon was set off next to him in Sankeys Manchester in January.

Despite the hearing loss he says he's determined to move "onwards" and will "play twice as loud" from now on.

...

http://www.mixmag.net/words/news/house-legend-lil-louis-may-have-been-permanently-deafened-by-air-horn

Dear Manchester.
I know you wondered what happened on Saturday. I’ll explain. I was really excited to play for you, thus, deeply disappointed that I didn’t. As usual, I landed then went to Soundcheck. As we were about to leave, this idiot came into the booth and without notice, decided to show off a new toy (a very powerful CO2 cannon blaster machine), which seemed 12 inches from my left ear. As he shot it, the compressed air that blasted out of the cannon was louder and more shrill than anything I’d ever heard. It hurt so bad, I jumped in the air and screamed. The pain was followed by an intense ringing and muffled silence. The left side of the room went dead, and I couldn’t hear anything except that ring. I was taken to the hospital, where I spent the night being passed around a bevy of doctors including an ENT specialist. I was diagnosed with SIHL (sound induced hearing loss), a permanent hearing loss, and given a strong steroid medication. I haven’t been able to easily walk straight (my equilibrium is off), so I can’t work out, hold down food, and I’m nauseous and lightheaded. I’ve gone from sleeping two hours a day to being in bed for two days.
I am fucking upset, because this idiot, (a manager no less) should have known better. And not only did he prevent me from playing for you, he may have ended my career as a DJ and Artist. I’m not looking for sympathy, but to prevent any new rumors from milling, instead of handling it privately as usual, this time I’m sharing the details.
Know that I live for three things, God, to finish this film, and create and play music for you. I’ve been able to handle everything life has thrown me. But I don’t know what will come of this. While writing this, I thought about the Serenity Prayer my mom gave me at 5. I understand why now. This is beyond my control, so I have to accept whatever comes. But I'm praying, because I’ve made the best album of my life, and want to give you that, the film, and the best DJing, which is still in front of me. In two hours, I have to take further tests. Wish me luck…
Musically yours,
Lil Louis.

12777514, I NEVER gave a fuck about most of items at ANY point of my life
Posted by FILF, Fri Apr-10-15 05:55 AM
-I don't find joy being around random people in general so I've had no reason to go clubbing, go to a bar or any of those nightlife social scenes. Everyone I've met has been at school/work or through family/friends.

-I was never into wearing jerseys or blasting my car's stereo culture nor do I smoke weed/drink.

-I do stay up well past midnight regularly (I get up at 10am) & occasionally attend concerts that cater to the bag-packer crowd just to hear some live music.

-As far as cartoons, I'm pretty sure I can enjoy vulgar shows I grew up watching such as Ren & Stimpy. Simpsons is a family show so I don't see why anyone would suddenly be too old for it...maybe you get tired of it, wasn't your thing in the first place or associate it w/ being a kid's show if you grew up watching it. South Park & Boondocks actually cater to adults, it's just a matter of whether you like the shows or not. With that said, I don't think I've watched any of the cartoons in a minute though nor was I ever a fan of Archer (too cheesy for me).
12778084, did you scream get off my lawn when you were a kid? j/k

12777544, I will still do all of those things when I feel like it. Lol

Not every week or even every month. Maybe once or twice per season. Well, except one night stands - that's still weekly or so.

I'm not gonna stop doing things that I enjoy for something so arbitrary as my age.

12777573, Being broke & Living with Roommates
Posted by Mori, Fri Apr-10-15 07:51 AM
Being broke was old at 27. I decided that I wanted to make 6 figures and eliminate debt. I hated scrambling to do basic shit .

It feels good to have a little cushion.

Living with Roommates got old at 30. I went on a mission to buy a home that I could afford to pay on my own. If I choose to have a roommate, it would be my husband.

12777848, Crashing on someones couch vs. getting a hotel-last year (42)
Posted by tully_blanchard, Fri Apr-10-15 11:00 AM
Hold that thought...

I had never done it before. Just moved to Atlanta, had a dj gig back in Charlotte, so I figure I'd be super cheap about it...take a megabus up, rent a cheap car for two days, crash at my mans and nems crib, be out on Sunday morning.

When he had to wait up for me to get in, and I woke up on his couch to his dog and his kids running around, thats when I knew I couldnt do it.

A guest room...ehh..maybe..but crashing on a couch? One and done..

I stopped even entertaining the idea of staying at one at 23 to be honest I was never into them (often I could find a hotel at a similar rate with more security and privacy)

part of the side-effect of E is that it drains spinal fluid as you roll
I knew plenty of e-tards who developed residual back pain as a result of chronic use. I hadn't rolled in years prior and I took a double stack in one shot.
