12776636, I broke my thumb last night
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 12:37 PM
Pics if you're into that sort of thing: http://instagram.com/p/1PkRHJyqHa/

Apparently it's really fucking difficult to break it where I did. Like damn near impossible.

I was on a date with my BMW-driving neurologist and getting out the car to go make sure they didn't give our table away because we were running late for our reservations. When I got out the car and started to close the door he said something to me and I turned to open the door and it closed on my thumb. But the slam dunk went the bad part. I could have lived with just the slam.

But those fucking BMW auto-close doors... Pulled shut on my thumb and broke that bitch. I actually heard the snap right before my blood curdling screams.

Blah blah blah... Go to the ER, have X-rays, doctor says he wants to drain the hematoma to relieve the pressure and hopefully stop some of the throbbing pain. Then goes and sticks a long ass needle in my fucked up ass thumb and SQUEEZES my broke as finger and drains absolutely nothing. Puts me in a splint, gives me a prescription for Percocet and tells me to follow up with a hand specialist in 1-2 weeks.

So now I'm sitting at home high on perkys considering breaking up with the neurologist cause he had the nerve to blame Walter Scott's death on him resisting arrest (whole nother post). Talk to me as I drift off to sleep.
12776653, thank you for the picture, i live for stuff like that!
Posted by earthseed, Thu Apr-09-15 12:44 PM
but sorry about the break

it looks like it hurt like shit.

for a thumb will you have to get one of those dorky metal splints
or do you have to have a full cast?

i've never broken anything but am fascinated by them.

yes, i'm weird.
12776684, Fuck yeah it hurts like shit.
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 12:57 PM
I have a splint. They don't really cast broken fingers.

I can't see the hand specialist until the hematoma dissipates
12776914, :-( i cannot even imagine that pain, but i hope you're better soon!

12776656, ugh that dude gotta go
Posted by teefiveten, Thu Apr-09-15 12:45 PM

12776687, I think the broken finger is a sign from God.

but yes let's talk about this

because i dont NOT agree with him
i don't understand people just fighting police
and resisting arrest

now did he deserve to die?
no

but why was he fighting the cop? (that was proved by the
camera man's eye witness report this morning)
and why was he running away

the cop should not have shot him so many times
i mean if he had to shoot him to stop him fine
the problem lies is the how many times
and the cop's description of what happened

once again
NO ONE deserves to die
NO COP should lie in their report
but what the doc said...
he does have a point
12776696, He has a point but it was clear from the conversation he was coming
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 01:01 PM
From a place of privilege. And that wasn't the first thing he said that pissed me off that night. He tried to get me to wear some 6" heels to dinner.
12776711, oh okay
Posted by labcoat, Thu Apr-09-15 01:06 PM
i get it

what was the heels thing about?
lol
12776729, I have these bright yellow 6-inch stilettos that I only wear
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 01:16 PM
For special bedroom occasions. (Full disclosure: he hasn't got to the level in the bedroom where I break them out)

I can't actually walk in them bitches.

He saw me in them for the first time and then bugged the shit out of me to wear them out to dinner even though I couldn't even walk to the door without needing a break. It was just fuckng annoying to the nth level
12776731, gotta toot that thang up.....

"Seasons may come and your luck just may run out, and all that you'll have is some memories..."
12776704, Yeah and no. Obviously wrestling a cop is a bad idea
Posted by BigReg, Thu Apr-09-15 01:02 PM
in general. But people resist* arrest ALL.THE.TIME.

Go to any strip of bars in a college town. If they are being properly policed your going to be just stacking up on those resisting arrests. Nobody gets shot.
12776712, but does the fact that people resist arrest, make it okay?
Posted by labcoat, Thu Apr-09-15 01:08 PM
just playing devil's advocate

i agree no one should get shot
let alone killed

it's just sad all around
12776838, make what OK? You shouldn't get shot over resisting arrest
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Apr-09-15 02:05 PM
it's no t a good idea to resist but no one should die over it unless they are trying to kill an officer.

12776965, i took it that he was implying that since people resist arrest...
Posted by labcoat, Thu Apr-09-15 03:11 PM
all the time
that it's okay to resist arrest

basically that resisting arrest is the norm

i wasn't thinking about the shooting part
that you referred to when i asked that
question
12776668, welcome to the club...

..broken bones in both hands (damn near shattered my right), as well as a similar car door incident in '09.

the worst situation was during a high school football game. delivered a punishing hit on an opponent who dropped his head at the last second before impact. unfortunately, one of my teammates was also flying in to make the tackle as well. the 3-way collision resulted in my right hand being smashed btwn their helmets.

didn't feel anything but numbness, but you could see the bone from my middle finger protruding from the tip (split the skin). refused to leave the game, though (playoffs).

best thing about the entire scenario: becoming ambidextrous.

unfortunate to hear about your accident, though. well wishes for a speedy recovery.

car door.

he had 8 hand specialist appointments/therapy sessions at $40 a pop. I was soooooooooooooooo sick behind that b.s. Having to take off/leave work 8 times over a two month period got on my effing nerves.
12776819, I was mad as shit that I had to go to the ER - $250 co-pay
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 01:58 PM
I was just gonna go to urgent care in the morning but I sent a pic of my thumb to my brother, who is an ER nurse and he was like "take your ass to the ER NOW!"

This is about to be an expensive ass thumb.

12776824, yo text game is about to suck balls. That $250 co-pay should be
Posted by Fishgrease, Thu Apr-09-15 02:00 PM
handed over to ol' boy.

12776832, why? He didn't slam the door on her
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Apr-09-15 02:02 PM
charge it to the game
12776841, I'm just jivin'.....but considering the circumstance he should've
Posted by Fishgrease, Thu Apr-09-15 02:05 PM
stepped up to some degree.

it doesn't even seem like he offered to take her to the ER.
12776879, BMW drivers are said to be the worst people
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Apr-09-15 02:32 PM
12776899, He dropped the ball so much last night
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 02:44 PM
#1: didn't want to go to the ER. I actually ate dinner with one hand cause he wanted to eat first
#2: while i held our table he went to Duane reade to get me some aleve. I specifically said aleve cause I'm allergic to Advil. He comes back with advil.
#3: after dinner I just want alto get home and take an aleve. The motherfucker wants to go have dessert somewhere.
#4: after he drops me off apparently he did go have dessert so when I call him to come back and get me, he shows up 20 min later.
12776839, It does suck balls right now!
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 02:05 PM
I was surprised last night when he didn't offer to pay for it.
12776831, A door shouldn't auto-close on your thumb. again...GET PAID!!!

but yea...

uh, he didn't make the bmw nor the auto-shut feature

12776855, no, not from him.. from BMW....that's on THEM...they got the $$$....
Posted by FLUIDJ, Thu Apr-09-15 02:16 PM
I'm sure she ain't the first to get got by that "feature"....
Can you even disable it??
It's never seemed like a good idea to me.....I don't even like the self closing trunks....but at least it's less prone for an errant hand to be there....

At least here at work; which hand has the broken thumb? I'm also guessing working out is out the equation at the moment? With the weather getting warmer, I suppose running outdoors is an option assuming you have the time for that.
12776907, Left thumb
Posted by Very-Effortless, Thu Apr-09-15 02:48 PM
and yeah, I can't lift until I see the hand specialist... So a lot of running
