12776545, Individualism puts personal advantage over everything

Allowing for the separation of our actions and any broader social context. When upgraded to a national stance it allows for the nation to behave with equal disregard.

The US is an individualistic nation of individuals who rally around their rights as individuals without need of broader context. These are not thought of as rights of individuals but each ones individual rights. Despite this few feel actually secure in their right. There is the constant fear perhaps stemming from the very birth of the nation, that someone or something will limit or restrict those rights.

This is the driving force behind the American drama.

Written upon return from Nashville where the NRA was having their annual shindig while cops were putting 8 bullets in an unarmed man's back. http://tinypic.com/r/f4ijrm/8
