12767626, Yeah but she didn't write that shit.
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Mar-31-15 08:42 AM
The real comedians are always better.
12767639, two of my favorites from last night:
Posted by KosherSam, Tue Mar-31-15 08:49 AM
"bieber, you're so famous that even when you went to Anne Frank's house, you had people waiting outside to see you. I just wish it was the same people who were waiting for Anne Frank." Jeff Ross

"Shaq and Kevin Hart are here. Is this a roast, or Tyler Perry's 'Of Mice and Men'?" Hannibal Burress
12767648, You are kind of missing the point. Of course she didn't write the jokes
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Mar-31-15 08:57 AM
and of course her delivery was stiff and not natural and the truth is the jokes weren't THAT funny but the joke isn't the jokes but the fact that Martha Stewart is telling such raunchy jokes.

12768023, YO WALTER WHITE WENT IN ON THAT SAY MY NAME SPEECH
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-31-15 12:06 PM
"Well, actually...the WRITERS..."

Can't you enjoy anything without getting all #ACTUALLY on it?
12768131, LOL
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Mar-31-15 12:49 PM
12768137, It ain't about #actually
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Mar-31-15 12:52 PM
my point is that the actual comedians deserve the shine more than the people paid to read some lines.
This ain't tv drama, its stand up comedy.

Ol' defend Diddy to death ass niggas.

"b-b-b-but he write checks tho!"
12768190, Yeah, it's still #ACTUALLY
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-31-15 01:18 PM
Writers can give a killer roast script...and then someone doesn't deliver (The Situation, anyone?). Martha killed it, and she was totally game, and owned the role. That, along with a great script, is why she killed it.

To act like those guys don't deserve shine is dumb.

Hell, Snoop elevated some jokes through his performance that otherwise wouldn't have done great.

It goes both ways.
12768191, some of the greatest stand-ups of all time had writers helping them.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Mar-31-15 01:19 PM
at least Pryor did.

but there might be someone somewhere who watched the Roast and read this post w/o knowing that the non-comedians who appeared had their bits written for them by professionals. so you're doing the Lord's work by bringing up the writers as ppl are congratulating Martha Stewart and praising her performance.
12768223, Which is very different imo.
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Mar-31-15 01:33 PM
but whatev. this discussion with homie above isn't gonna go anywhere. We're both gonna refuse to acknowledge the point the other is making in typical okp fashion.
12768247, Well, I actually acknowledged the writers, but ok.
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-31-15 01:41 PM
12768273, Which also wasn't the point I was hoping to make.
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Mar-31-15 01:53 PM
It was about Martha getting love over the comedians.
But since you, in typical ok fashion are dying for the last word -- here's your chance. Go ahead. Take it.
12768290, Dang people can't like what they like now?
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-31-15 02:00 PM
If I liked Martha's set more than, say...Chris Delia, that's wrong because she didn't write her own? I'm confused as to the point you're attempting to make here.
12768293, just take the L.. no need for speeches and shit.
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Mar-31-15 02:02 PM
12771065, It's very possible some of the stand-ups *also* had help from writers.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Apr-02-15 05:59 PM
12771054, I agree from a roast & comedy perspective. Otherwise it's just acting.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Thu Apr-02-15 05:42 PM
12767636, oh my god! i can't....
Posted by luminous, Tue Mar-31-15 08:48 AM
12767640, she should have memorized the jokes or practiced reading from the teleprompter
Posted by LAbeathustla, Tue Mar-31-15 08:50 AM
would of come off a lot better...twas funny tho
12767650, Everyone/writing was on point on that roast lol

12767660, Lol. I hope we never get too PC for roasts
Posted by dafriquan, Tue Mar-31-15 09:05 AM
In this twitter outrage era.

Good lines. Medium delivery.

Anybody got a link to the whole thing?
12767665, You mean Martha Stewarts "writer" goes in at the Bieber roast.

he is gonna be huge.
12771010, i've been predicting this.
Posted by PROMO, Thu Apr-02-15 04:27 PM
also, i LOVE that he makes jokes about his father's death because it makes EVERYONE squirm.

i love when people joke about shit that's one of those "you shouldn't make jokes about that" subjects.

that's why i love guys like Jeselnik too.

Pete is so young too so there's plenty of time for him to blow up.
12767917, her dry delivery made the jokes even funnier imo
Posted by Damali, Tue Mar-31-15 11:13 AM
i just love her
12768091, Jeffrey Ross & Natasha Leggero >
Posted by atruhead, Tue Mar-31-15 12:32 PM
If there's a Jeff Ross roast compilation on Youtube I will make time for it soon
12768188, Natasha Leggero...ooo weeee
Posted by rdhull, Tue Mar-31-15 01:16 PM
Im new to her

>If there's a Jeff Ross roast compilation on Youtube I will
>make time for it soon
12768156, They did not go easy on Beiber at all.
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Mar-31-15 01:00 PM
It seemed like plenty of them actually gave no fucks about dude.
You could always tell back when they roasted a fellow comedian that they actually cared about the roastee... Nah. Not this time.

Complete PR move by Beibers team, but it was funny as shit.

Hannibal Buress' "I like your music about as much as Bill Cosby likes my stand-up" might've been the line of the night. And then Jeff Ross doing Harts "run" put it over the top.
12768230, The Kevin Hart / Cosby / Philly shit was great too
Posted by KosherSam, Tue Mar-31-15 01:35 PM
"Kevin is from Philly, just like Bill Cosby. And just like with Bill Cosby, most women you have sex with don't know that you're inside them"
12769442, agreed.
Posted by SoWhat, Wed Apr-01-15 01:33 PM
the disdain for Biebz from the dais was palpable. and unusual.
12769793, Ever see the Colbert Roast of Chevy Chase
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed Apr-01-15 04:29 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWn0hO8vK-U

I hear in general that that was one of the most unpleasant roasts in history as far comedians hating the honorees and the feeling being mutual.

he went IN. brilliantly.
12769300, Apparently they killed a couple of Paul Walker Jokes
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed Apr-01-15 01:15 PM
http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/justin-bieber-roast-paul-walker-jokes-cut-1201453856/

I am not mad at the decision but maybe Ludacris shouldn't have done the show (apparently he is the one who got them cut).

I do think people are full of shit to get mad at the Bruce Jenner Jokes

http://www.buzzfeed.com/krystieyandoli/bruce-jenner-was-the-butt-of-all-the-jokes-at-the-justin-bie#.irMBrg8dny

Jenner is untouchable but all the black men jokes are cool?

12769451, Luda definitely seemed to take jokes personally
Posted by Grand_Royal, Wed Apr-01-15 01:37 PM
If u can't takes jokes at your own expense, then u don't need to be a part of a roast.
12769460, oh lord.
Posted by SoWhat, Wed Apr-01-15 01:43 PM
it could be that trans ppl are in a more precarious position than Black men (SHOCKING) in that trans ppl are relatively disenfranchised - even in relation to Black men, generally. to wit: there were at least 5 Black men on the stage that night. there were NO trans ppl on the stage.

so yeah, i guess based on that and other factors some ppl feel transphobic jokes at the expense of transppl or one possible transperson (who has NOT COME OUT and was not in attendance and so couldn't defend himself) are bit more dodgy than racist jokes at the expense of Black men generally and/or any of the several Black men on stage (who were in attendance that night and could defend themselves).
12771083, It's a roast. Sensitive people can fuck off.
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Apr-02-15 06:30 PM
12770642, as I've said before, NOTHING is worse than Jeff Ross' Kurt Cobain joke
Posted by KosherSam, Thu Apr-02-15 01:10 PM
I get that Paul Walker's death is more recent and thus the wound is fresher, but if they didn't cut the Kurt joke, they shouldn't cut anything.
12770656, Another element though....
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Apr-02-15 01:16 PM
Paul Walker died in an accidental way.

Kurt Cobain killed himself.

Ryan Dunn drove drunk.

It's different.
12771001, he made a joke about Kurt's suicide to the man's widow.
Posted by KosherSam, Thu Apr-02-15 04:19 PM
there's an infinite amount of "too soon" for that.
12771053, RE: he made a joke about Kurt's murder to the man's potential murderer
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Apr-02-15 05:40 PM
12771085, I don't like the walker jokes. I'm a fan, it's too soon, etc
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Apr-02-15 06:33 PM
But it's a roast and all that shit is fair game and people need to either suck it up or avoid that format because everything is up for grabs unless a roast subject makes specific requests.
12771064, ^^^^^Why I did not & will not watch
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Thu Apr-02-15 05:53 PM
12771066, fuck the haters, Pete Davidson's Walker joke was fucking hilarious.
