..at least 3 people in critical condition, several others injured. the first bldg was engulfed in flames and eventually collapsed. 7-alarm fire. firefighters are currently trying contain the fires in adjoining bldgs.

people next door had been smelling gas for weeks
but they couldn't find the source (the gas co. that is)

I loved that place. A staple in the neighborhood. Gone. SMH. Just sad all around man. I thought it was on the other side of the street at first and worried people were biking in the bike lane when it happened. Sad.

this is one time I do not mind tenants blowing up my phones
I would much rather know that the smell has penetrated the building and shut down the outside air dampers than risk someone passing out (I have some real hyperchrondiacs here *eyeroll*)

I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more in the Lowa. Oldest neighb in NYC
everyone lamenting about those stores, but I was sad for the stores that those stores replaced.
Unfortunately this will probably be the beginning of a disneyfying of 8th street
i literally walked that block thousands of times
