the Flushing my parents grew up in was much more balanced in terms of diversity but it was also a bad neighborhood. The block my mom grew up (Sanford Ave between College Point Boulevard and Frame Place) was infamous in her time, you couldn't walk down that block unless you were from there.
the Asians didn't start visibly taking over until the mid 90s, by the time the mid 2000s hit they took over everything.
I've learned to live with them peacefully, Asians generally only start trouble with their own. Plus I really can't complain about the variety of produce just a hop, skip and jump away from my door plus the prices, they got it 4 cheap!
