she was being offered roles and she didn't like them. she didn't think she should have to only play stereotypical roles after winning an oscar.
her producers were salty though that she didn't campaign more for the film... and they def released a lot of 'she's difficult to work with' sort of comments in retaliation to her not coming to Cannes....
