I think though, from the reviews I have been reading, it is suppose to take a more realistic and less liberal fantasy view of the intersection of race and crime in America. I want that to be true but find it hard to believe that will happen on Network TV.

Unless you believe it's impossible for this show that just started to end up being better than a show that's already ended.
It may be better. It might not be better. Too early to call.
I do know that the first ep of American Crime was great. Better IMHOP than the first ep of Breaking Bad.
I also know that I am into the fourth season of Breaking Bad and feel like that show is grossly overhyped. I just don't see how people can argue it's the best (or second best) show to ever be on TV.

if you never heard people on OKP and offline ranting about BB you would probably enjoy it more.
maybe not but too many people hear about a great show and watch it with their arms folding waiting to be impressed.
The first 5 minutes of Breaking Bad is better than the last 2 episodes of American Crash...

that good of an actor to hold scenes on how own. Twice he's had to do this in each of the episodes that aired so far and he took me out of the show both times.

The potential is there. We hear about Crimes like this all the time and we really have a hard time discussing them in detail and in depth.
I watched it and just got wrapped up in, what if I got a call to come identify my childs body. Dwelling on that alone fucked me up for a minute mean while it get less than 20 seconds if any time in most crime procedural.
I'm just saying. the potential is there. They'll probably fumble it.

btw Breaking Bad was pretty bad till season 3 IMO so this could become something but its still too early to make that statement.
