i think the bigger question here tho is if churches should even have that status
i dont think so
especially if we are talking church-state separation
there's nothing about churches that should exempt them from reporting income from the state...
even if we separate out tithes... and the charitable portions of their work
(and no, ministering does not count)
other than that? i dont see any reason for that tax exemption
