that's not any more true than it must be true that Anthony Hopkins MUST BE a cannibal b/c he played Hannibal Lecter so convincingly.

or that Deniro MUST BE a gangster b/c he played Vito Corleone so well.

or that Jody Foster MUST BE a whore b/c she played Iris Steensma so well.

it's ludicrous.

i'm gay as the hell and i played Stanley Kowalski in a production of Streetcar - that included a sex scene. how'd i do it?

not at all.

i went there as Stanley K though i had no interest in my scene partner.

the same thing happens w/str8 actors playing str8 characters - they have to play convincingly even when they have no attraction to their partner. like in the Notebook - McAdams and Gosling HATED each other. but you can't see it on the screen. they have love scenes - hated each other. played it convincingly.
