can somebody please just knock her out?

she's got 2 moves: judo-throw - armbar.

can somebody get one of these other girls into a legitimate training camp?
12739100, Why all the hate? Serious question. If shes winning shes winning.
Posted by DavidHasselhoff, Mon Mar-02-15 09:18 AM
12739103, no "hate".
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 09:22 AM
just sick of UFC cramming her down everyone's throat because they're so pressed for stars.

ben askren is an olympian, wins every fight and bellator CUT him while he was their champion because he's such a one dimensional fighter.
12739124, askrens 1-dimension is boring as fuck
Posted by fontgangsta, Mon Mar-02-15 09:49 AM
ronda's is exciting, violent, decisive, and aesthetically pleasing
12739141, when's the last time an armbar ended a men's fight? 2002?
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 09:58 AM
her fights are typically one round and play out exactly the same.

what's entertaining about that?

12739146, ALSO - LOL at comparing Bellator to UFC in general
Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 10:00 AM
Bellator is about to have a card with Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock - they are cumulatively 92 years old. The level of talent on their roster is a joke. They basically employ washed up UFC fighters.
12739151, i wasn't comparing them.
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 10:02 AM
12739127, LOL - UFC isn't pressed for stars.
Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 09:50 AM
John Jones
Conor McGregor
Cain Velasquez
Anthony Pettis
Chris Weidman

If you are a UFC fan - those are household names to you.

And if you aren't a UFC fan but are Black, Irish, Mexican or a good ole boy - they are household names for you too.

If anything, I think the UFC may have too MANY fighters on their roster and it's diluting the brand of their stars.
12739145, their business was down 40% or whatever in 2014 for a reason.
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 09:59 AM
12739158, injuries. when their business is down it is completely due to injuries
Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 10:06 AM
Look at who all was hurt in 2014 - Pettis, Velasquez, Silva, Belfort a couple other belt-holders and #1/#2 ranked fighters. In a business like UFC if you can't have title fights or big fights then your ticket price goes down and your PPVs go down - which is the bread and butter of their business.

But 2015 though? Jon Jones is gonna fight 3 times, Cain is coming back, Pettis is back, Conor McGregor is fighting Aldo for the belt at International Fight Week, Silva is back, (suspended but whatever they already made their money on 183), Belfort is gonna fight Weidman.

Dana White won't be done counting his money from 184 before his starts counting his money from 185.
12739182, unless something major happens...
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 10:14 AM
i think profits will be down from 2014.

they're gonna need some explosive fights and some new fighters who really resonate with ppl to pull their company back to where they were 5-7 years ago.

imo, them not having the air time they had on spike is destroying their ability to sell new fighters as "important".
12739104, 50% of men tho? I hate hearing shit like that...

The fights don't last long enough to see much else. She's finished with knees to the body and strikes to the head also.

That said, she's hardly the first combat fighter to have a trademark finish/combo/strike.

>can somebody get one of these other girls into a legitimate

Most of the women she fights look good to great in their other fights. When they fight Ronda it's a different story.
12739108, welp.

Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 09:57 AM
These women don't train with other women unless they are on an all-female TUF series. They are in training camp with other men. They are fighting men on a daily basis.

If anyone who thinks RR could't take out MOST of the men in all the weight classes below bantamweight and at least half of the male bantamweight class are just really showing that they know very little about the sport of MMA.

But really, it's all a moot point now. RR is probably going to retire in the next year or two. I mean she's got 2 movies coming out next year and she has a good agency behind her that knows how to market her as the "pretty/tough" girl. I mean, I was AT the fight. The crowd was just as hollywood as a Mayweather fight.
12739149, her camp pays these men to train with her...
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Mar-02-15 10:01 AM
you get a fighter who needs that fat check to feed his family and she would be all types of fucked up.

12739175, Do you understand how camps work?
Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 10:12 AM
Camps are mostly comprised of active fighters who are training to feed their family.

And what you DONT want is someone kicking your ass too much in training. That's why Weidman wasn't on the 184 card and is now on the 187 card - training camp injury.

It's why Cain had to pull out of 180 - training camp injury.

So miss me with the "she doesn't train" hard excuse just because she trains RIGHT.
12739192, I'm aware injuries happen in training... WTF?
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Mar-02-15 10:17 AM
What I'm saying is these men she trains with aren't trying to kill her for a paycheck.

Put her in the ring with a fighter who needs to win and watch her ass get dropped with the quickness.

Roudy is on record saying Fallon Fox has an unfair advantage"

It ain't the same, sorry.. I know you want it to be one way but it's not.

Posted by southphillyman, Mon Mar-02-15 10:02 AM
stars use steroids (and other drugs), and boxing is about to be on network tv again
ronda rousey is christy martin 2.0, nice novelty but never going really be a break out star generating 10s of millions at 1 event
12739169, she needs to realize a 15 second tap out isn't good for business
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Mar-02-15 10:10 AM

Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 10:12 AM
like when i saw dana white say connor mcgregor was the greatest fighter in ufc history or whatever a few months ago... i just smh.

he tried the same routine with frankie edgar.

the ufc leaving spike was the worst thing to happen to their company.

i'm not convinced that the success the ufc experienced in the late 00's wasn't entirely hinged on spike tv making them the focal point of their network.
12739190, Financially, leaving spike was the best thing for them
Posted by Very-Effortless, Mon Mar-02-15 10:17 AM
They get 4 fights a year on FOX
Consistent programming on Fox Sports 1
Plus they have partnerships with FOX global affiliates

12739208, was it?
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 10:24 AM
they've been hemorrhaging ppv buys/tv ratings since 2011.
12739197, what's the story behind this?
Posted by southphillyman, Mon Mar-02-15 10:19 AM

>the ufc leaving spike was the worst thing to happen to their

i read that they don't have ppv's like that anymore either because nobody was buying them
i never attended a UFC fight party in my life so i can't really speak to how well they were doing but that's crazy if true
12739219, spike tv is one of the most widely carried cable networks in na.
Posted by Voletta Wallace, Mon Mar-02-15 10:29 AM
and from 2005-2011 the whole network revolved around the ufc.

so it was basically like the ufc having their own cable network.

2009/2010 were record years in terms of buy rates/ratings/live gates for the ufc.

2011/2012 - the switch to fox sports one/fx.

both networks in far less households.

not to mention barely even carried in other countries.

profits down 40% from 2013 in 2014 and profits in 2013 were down from 2012.

they're trending DOWN bigtime and i'm not convinced that it doesn't have everything to do with them not being carried by spike anymore.

and spike needed them too.

when's the last time you ever watched spike now that the ufc isn't on it?

the fuck i wanna watch an ep. of cops from 1990 for?
12739184, what planet are you living on where RR isn't a breakout star?

into that stance. He also argued that it wasn't fair for Fallon Fox to fight men since she still had the bone structure of a man despite all the cosmetic surgeries and hormone changes she had to change from being a man. If he felt that way, I don't logically see why he'd think Rousey would beat a trained male fighter.

according to his wikipedia page, Mousassi is a black belt in judo and fights as a middleweight, so that's not the same premise Joe Rogan presented, but I do disagree with Rogan's original point. I can't see Rousey taking a punch from a trained male fighter of the same weight class.
12739519, to be fair he fights at 185
Posted by RobOne4, Mon Mar-02-15 01:10 PM
he has 50 pounds on her. Rogan said Bantamweight. But I still dont think she could beat the worst Bantamweight in the UFC.

Posted by J_Stew, Mon Mar-02-15 03:21 PM
there is not ONE under contract UFC/strikeforce level male fighter in her weight class that wouldn't destroy her. She won't be able to take them down and they'll laugh at her punches, and she won't survive more than a couple of theirs. This is like people that don't understand that a WNBA team wouldn't beat a high level boy's high school basketball team.

There isn't a sport in the world that doesn't follow this pecking order:
Trained Male>>>Trained Female>>>Untrained Male>>>Untrained Female

I mean that shit even applies to pool, bowling, and darts

12739795, pretty much. She could beat regular fool's asses

12740046, why CAN'T she?
Posted by PROMO, Mon Mar-02-15 05:36 PM
i don't know if she can or cannot, and neither do you. so for y'all to come in here and say she CANNOT is simply your bias because she's a woman and they are men.

I mean, before you get into shit like mechanical advantages of the male frame, fist size etc, let's just consider her a fighter that is at an elite / world class level in her submissions and her grappling.

Even if you assume her striking is deficient measured against a replacement level male fighter, she certainly wouldn't be the first person who dominated with an exemplary single skill.

And that's the thing about Rhonda - her world class judo compliments her submissions.

what's more shocking than anything Rogan said are the cubicle jockeys on this board that say she can't beat THEM.

on the poker message boards we had regular posters like steve albini, the best highland games athlete in the country(the guys that throw trees) who's wife is one of the world's strongest women, she posted there also, a powerlifter that could squat 1000 pounds, and quite a few MMA fighters. it's a bigger board than here, but to think everyone here is binlahab is silly. In sports we have a guy that owns a boxing gym.
12740071, The people at the bottom of the UFC are world class too

These are some of the best of the best. They are not your average weekend warriors who train for fun after work.
You'll find NCAA wrestling champions, Olympic athletes, people who climbed all the up MMA ranks to get to the UFC.

So yes, she is elite with her skills. But so is everyone else. That is physical ability becomes the difference maker

There's a reason why sports are separated by sex. There are clear differences in the physical capabilities between men and women.
And the skill gap must be large to overcome these physical differences

12740074, i think you're missing the point.

this isn't like running a sprint where it's purely athletic when it comes to man vs. woman. two equally trained sprinters, man vs woman race? the man is gonna win.

the stronger, faster person in fight doesn't always win.

my point is that for people definitively saying Rogan is out of his mind are full of shit. they don't know if she can and neither do you or i. and we won't ever know because it won't happen.

i mean, i've seen women whip the shit outta dudes bigger than them on worldstar. shit happens yo.

if i'm gonna take ANYONE'S opinion on the matter though, i'd take Rogan who knows and understands that sport just about as well as anyone on the planet.
12740086, Rogan understands MMA better than anyone on the planet?

dude that's like saying Brent Musburger knows more about football than anyone. Yeah, he does BJJ, and he's a commentator, he's not qualified to train anyone at a competitive level. He's a talking head.
12740097, did you say worldstar???? FOH...

You believe Joe is being genuine and doesnt have anything to gain by saying sensational shit?

I guess Don King was genuine as well.

12740083, she's an Olympic level, medal winning judoka

that's pretty fucking impressive. especially considering judo is all about leverage and weight transfer, and being able to defend yourself against bigger, stronger opponents.
