Beyonce Fans Attack Kid Rock Online After Derogatory Comments

'Beyhive' descends upon Rock's Instagram after 'First Kiss' singer says superstar "doesn't really fucking do much for me" in Rolling Stone profile

Kid Rock has incurred the wrath of Beyoncé fans following comments he made about the pop star during his Rolling Stone interview.

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, the singer detailed why he's "flabbergasted" by the intense Beyoncé fandom. "Beyoncé, to me, doesn't have a fucking 'Purple Rain,' but she's the biggest thing on Earth," he said. "How can you be that big without at least one 'Sweet Home Alabama' or 'Old Time Rock & Roll'?"

His criticism quickly turned to not understanding the physical attraction to the singer. "People are like, 'Beyoncé's hot. Got a nice fucking ass.' I'm like 'Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big tits.' Doesn't really fucking do much for me."

Fans of the "Drunk in Love" singer, known as the 'Beyhive,' have taken to social media to vent their frustrations with Rock and anger towards his criticisms. All of his recent Instagram pictures have been flooded with thousands of comments from super-fans with icons and usernames referencing Beyoncé.

While some of the comments are just a marker of presence — users simply posting the bee emoji or "#Beyhive" — others have turned personal and violent. "I HOPE KID ROCK MOM GETS GANG RAPED AND CATCHES AIDS AND DIES," reads one such note on a picture of Rock at the Today show.

"You ain't shit even to this day," says another. "Who are you? And why are you 70 still being called a kid?"

Rock recently released his 10th studio album, First Kiss. As noted in the profile, Rock received a controversial NAACP award in 2011. The Detroit chapter honored him with the Great Expectations award while many members protested the singer for his heavy use of Confederate flag imagery.

And even if white people do loyally buy albums, they are still choosing HIS album
12737935, his diamond album came out in 1998, as in before piracy

>Massive impact is massive impact

Ja Rule made a massive impact once, he's a walking punchline now

>And even if white people do loyally buy albums, they are still
>choosing HIS album

fan loyalty is no demonstration of musical greatness or timeless material. hell, his career has benefitted from the same argument he's using to shit on Beyonce
12737971, ok. how about 10 plat certs post-piracy?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Feb-27-15 04:13 PM
Never mind that a lot of other people released albums in 1998 and 1999 that didnt go diamond. Destinys Child for example.

And he wasnt even shitting on her.

He is shitting on people who cant maintain their perspective on her. Like people who he think he was shitting on her. Or people who equate his record-buying fanbase to her "wish death upon heretics" fanbase.

Finally lol @ ja rule. If Ja Rule had a 6 album plat streak going that might be a good comparison.
12738027, his last platinum album was in 2010

12737892, not really
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Feb-27-15 03:38 PM
His musical skill is objectively displayed during performances. Saying you dont like him is true, saying he has no talent is patently false.

Saying beyonce has no classics cannot be objectively disproven
12737899, so what are kid rock's classics?
Posted by SimplyHannah, Fri Feb-27-15 03:40 PM
First we need to define the criteria for what a classic actually is. Because if you ask me its subjective.

12737856, You see my Twitter today? Not too many folks wanted to debate it
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Fri Feb-27-15 03:17 PM
but those that did were mainly saying Single ladies. I admit, I never realized it sold that damn much and was #1 for that long, BUT......that still don't mean classic to me. And people on her side ALLLL say the same shit..."it's unfair to compare it to a song from the 70's, you gotta judge it in 20-30 years" and the fact that the numbers "back up their claim" makes it harder to debate.

But nah, I really don't think she has a standout. I even said "Uptown funk" and "Happy" are much bigger than anything she's ever made.
12737869, Nah, Single Ladies is played at almost every wedding during the bouquet..

I caught a piece of the twitter convo...

I definitely think the argument can be made for Single Ladies. In fact I'll concede she has 1...

also

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles_in_the_United_States

When it comes to single sales she still is in direct competition with Katy, Rihanna, Gaga.. so its not like Single Ladies has some runaway single sales either..

Not like the fucking Black Eyed Peas.. jeez..
12738091, wow. that list suggests beyonce' music is actually not pop enough
Posted by Riot, Fri Feb-27-15 05:39 PM
folk talkin about her not having classic/timeless songs
which i would mostly agree with, career-wise

but 85% of that list of what is moving units is not classic/timeless AT ALL

beyonce would actually need to try being LESS soulful and more mindlessly catchy, if she wanted that # 1 sales slot

i would guess her still making the top 10 selling artists overall, comes from totaling up more individual songs than any of the other artists listed

that list is also another reminder how many fitewolks are in america
300M total and like 70% white = 210 million ppl. thats a lotta mofoes, whether they R buying albums, making dane cook a star, or anything else

posted up in the northeast u forget that sometimes

12738105, RE: wow. that list suggests beyonce' music is actually not pop enough
Posted by double 0, Fri Feb-27-15 06:00 PM
Yea there are some songs that definitely wouldn't be considered timeless higher up on that list than Single ladies...

I dont think it's a soul or repetition thing. I mean Crazy In Love and Single Ladies arent exactly "soulful' and are pretty repetitive as opposed to like a Someone Like You or Somebody that I used to know..

What is also crazy about this list is the damn legacy of Motown (LMFAO) came in real quick and SMASHED the game..
12737937, 'Single Ladies' is it.
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Feb-27-15 03:54 PM
play it today at a wedding and watch what happens.

12737987, that's the one...that song will live on like them Bon Jovi hits

that get a reaction no matter where, when or how they get played
12737857, I was thinking the same thing

12737865, you're tripping. She has more album cuts than a few

>timeless song..

B Day alone has 5, arguably 6 songs that continue to define her career and that album came out 8+ years ago

but yeah she has tons of non singles from her first album to today that her fans live and die for

if your bar for timeless is Thriller, Purple Rain or Stevie Wonder you're being unreasonable

because anyone who isn't a D'Angelo fan could argue Voodoo isn't timeless so it's all subjective
12737901, RE: you're tripping. She has more album cuts than a few
Posted by double 0, Fri Feb-27-15 03:41 PM
I think the argument is..

Simply.. Beyonce is one of the biggest artists in the world. Across the board.. age.. gender country etc..

But if you compare her to the canon of people who got THAT big. There isn't a defining album

I don't think anything outside of Single Ladies can really be placed in the pantheon..

12737916, I doubt anyone can name Elvis Presley's big album
Posted by atruhead, Fri Feb-27-15 03:49 PM
but I know how big he was

she means everything to her audience: blackish women age 18-38 and a great number of gay dudes

she shut down everything dropping an album out of thin air with songs her fans will be singing forever, I dont get the determination to discredit her

(not you but) I think some people really hate the idea of a powerful black woman
12737941, RE: I doubt anyone can name Elvis Presley's big album
Posted by double 0, Fri Feb-27-15 03:55 PM
Beyonce is an ICON..

no one should argue that.. Not even Mike Huckabee can.

But the artist in me wants her to commit herself to a great piece of work. Like really dig deep and see what comes out..

I don't think she could before because her upbringing was so focused on a success goal not an artistic one..

but now..

12737960, I dont think she's looking to change the world with her music.
Posted by atruhead, Fri Feb-27-15 04:05 PM
she's an entertainer who makes songs about love and performs her ass off

Posted by QBoogie, Fri Feb-27-15 10:22 PM
... I feel if he dug deep and really made the album he wanted to artistically, it would be his magnum opus. Even at his current age. But one could argue that he has classic albums, Beyonce not so much.
12737989, Elvis' classic period was before coherent albums were important.

You're talking about a cat that TOURED WITH ICE CUBE for his first album back in '90, at a time when Cube was still "The nigga you love to hate". Duke had a break dancin crew, DJ'ed, did Graf (IIRC), AND could rhyme. Kid Rock is more hip hop than 99.9999999996% of the cats rappin on the radio right now.

He's still sellin albums at a time when artists still buy their own records on the sly just to inflate their own sales.

He has die hard fanbases for both types of music he's done and somehow you think he's irrelevant???

That just shows more about how much you don't know about Kid Rock than anything.

I bet most of the music listening public don't know either. It's a stretch to say that most know what Crazy in Love is.
They may be "urban" classics (I was going to say R&B, but I don't think it it fits the category. Sounds more like pop)

I think a lot of people severely over-estimate how widespread Yonce's reach is.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/kid-rock-puts-his-obama-hating-right-wing-jackassery-on-full-display-ahead-of-new-album/

In a wide-ranging interview with Rolling Stone, timed before the release of his new album, singer-musician Kid Rock talked about buying guns before “Obummer” banned them, pop diva Beyoncé, and called 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney “the most decent motherf*cker I’ve ever met in my life.”

Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, invited Rolling Stone writer Patrick Doyle out to his 500-acre Alabama estate — situated right near a property owned by Hank Williams Jr. — where he discussed his career and his ‘Red State’ values.

Prior to traversing the property where Rock had trapped three wild pigs he intended to shoot (“We’re about to do some murderous shit”), he showed off his gun collection, including a .22 rifle, two custom .45 pistols with ivory handles displayed in a case reading “American Badass Set,” and a semiautomatic with a silencer. According to Rock, the semiautomatic is similar to the ones the Secret Service carries and he purchased it using a loophole after President Obama came into office.
You have to get these pre-1985 with a silencer. I bought it when Obummer came into office, because I’m thinking, ‘What if he f*ckin’ bans guns?’ ,” he explained.

Showing the writer the three wild pigs he had trapped in a pen — explaining that they are not native to the area and over-reproduce — Rock and his girlfriend Audrey proceeded to shoot the penned animals, with Rock exclaiming, “His ass is done,” after shooting one.

Turning to the music scene, Rock related how his father, – a owned a Lincoln-Mercury dealership in his native Michigan — didn’t approve of his son’s career choice, asking him, “‘Why would you want to be a n****r?”

Rock admitted that has last album, Rebel Soul, was a flop, and seemed bewildered by the popularity of Beyoncé.

“Beyoncé, to me, doesn’t have a f*cking ‘Purple Rain,’ but she’s the biggest thing on Earth. How can you be that big without at least one ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ or ‘Old Time Rock & Roll’?” he said. “People are like, ‘Beyoncé’s hot. Got a nice f*cking ass.’ I’m like, ‘Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big tits.’ Doesn’t really f*cking do much for me.”

The rocker, who is now 43 with a son in college, admits that he has settled down from his hard partying days when he admits, “I’d be driving the field trip Monday after I banged, like, four hookers. Well, not hookers, but, you know, four nice girls on Saturday night in Cincinnati.”

Now he hobnobs with conservative politicians; describing Mitt Romney as “the most decent motherf*cker I’ve ever met in my life,” and texting with former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Rock even admitted he has a membership at golfer Jack Nicklaus’ private Bear’s Club, near Palm Beach, Florida, saying, “If you told me five years ago I’d have to take my hat off and tuck my shirt in, I’d have slapped the taste out of your mouth. Now I’m like, ‘Look at me, hair slicked back, shirt tucked in.’ I’m like, ‘What a fag!’”

Rock intends to go out on the road promoting his new album, First Kiss, saying he plans to keep ticket prices down — blaming Ticketmaster and calling them “F*ckin’ whores” — and saying he is fully aware who his audience is these days.

“45-50-year-old girls wearing extra-large T-shirts — they’re my bread and butter,” He said. ” They know how to f*cking party — ‘I don’t give a f*ck, I’m making a T-shirt and putting sequins on it. I’m saving my money for beer and having a good time.’”

There's a mismatch between her larger than life status and the level of her output.

There was no such mismatch with Whitney, or Mariah. And in the case of Janet and TLC, it was the other way around - the quality of the songs far surpassed their talent.

Beyonce has maybe 3 songs that I'd ever want to play on a guitar or piano, whereas those other artists each has at least 6 otlr 7 (maybe not TLC.)

12738194, what makes them weak?
Posted by howisya, Fri Feb-27-15 08:49 PM
i hate that the standard measure of the timelessness of a song is the record sales or chart position, so i won't resort to those, but those songs are ubiquitous and obviously very well loved. they are both overplayed *to me,* and "old time rock & roll" grates on *my* ears, but they are very much classics that have stood the test of time. we will see if beyonce has songs like that, that will be perennial favorites in popular culture for decades. based on the longevity of her music so far, there don't seem to be many candidates in her catalog that will be that universal and long lasting. that was what i got out of that statement.
12738202, the reason why I said "to my ears" is that both songs seem to

just appeal to a narrow demographic. The songs don't have the "sophistication" to "spread out" to a more broad audience.

"Strong" to me is when a song can go "far" beyond a set limit.

ex: the song "A hard day's night" is a "weak" Beatles classic to me because that song just seems to me to be able to just reach die hard Beatles fans.

"Strawberry Fields forever" is a "strong" Beatles classic to me because it has the ability to reach a broader audience due to the "more sophisticated" artistic qualities of that song.

>just appeal to a narrow demographic. The songs don't have the
>"sophistication" to "spread out" to a more broad audience.

i think this is a pretty romantic view. the two songs in question get played whether we want to hear them or not. they are played at the grocery store and on tv commercials. the demographic spreads because enough people genuinely think they are good pieces of music/catchy songs and keep playing them and to more and more people. people outside of the usual demographic of those bands hear the songs and find the appeal, even if it's not on the first listen. to me those songs are classics because they never really went away and still get played now when the music of the day is a lot more like beyonce's music. will the same be said of beyonce's music in the future when the dominant style of music may sound very different from now? we start to answer that question by listing how many of beyonce's songs never went out of style and have continued to be played by a wide audience, not just personal favorites or songs we as music fans find of particularly high artistic merit.

i would counter that by saying i disagree with your assessment that it reaches only a smaller faction of fans of the beatles specifically and that "hard day's night" does more in some ways than "strawberry fields forever" because it actually is more accessible and conventional and attached to the still very popular, beloved movie. it doesn't matter to me that SFF is the finer song or that the beatles have literally dozens of amazing pieces of music that can still be enjoyed and dissected 50 years later. i can look at it objectively and say both songs are classics and in some ways "hard day's night" has the edge even though it wouldn't be my choice except as the catchier song. i think there is a tendency among beatles fans to downplay how popular and immediate those early hits were and continue to be.

As a black person, I don't think "alabama" and "old time R&R" reach far beyond the "white" demographic. Yeah, those songs get played a lot in public because lot's of public places are geared towards white people.

I'm not saying appealing to white people is bad, but it seems narrow to me in many cases. There's enough white music that can and does appeal to various races that makes those widely appealing classics "stronger" to me than "alabama" and "old time R&R".

I knew this would be murkier because there is the argument that "simple" is "accessible" but to me there is stages where simplicity seems limited then more sophistication seems "impressive" then there seems to be a stage where the sophistication "blands out" and "works against" the artist.

I know the Beatles early hits have something (some definitely more than others) but by "Strawberry Fields" the sophistication was at a point of strength (far from "blanding out").

To me, I'll always give an artist the "edge" when the sophistication is strong (that seemingly usual middle stage). It's a fascinating topic but I'm sure it is recognizable in a lot of artists.

There's a point in his career where he decided to court the tea party crowd to success. He'll always sell records just off the strength of his background. I'm interested to see how people he came up with view him now.

these corn ball mush room head turkeys like to make her out to be like Michael Jackson, however her music career is more like Marlon Jackson's.

she ain't done much of nothing despite all the hype

Crazy in love comes as close to a money track as she got and that still isn't gonna be enough to be remembered.

i ain't that big on Kid Rock per se though he has some talent, however he told no lies here and the Kayne cheerleading backlash is in full effect.

12738300, If the reverse happened it would be just as dumb though.
Posted by Lardlad95, Sat Feb-28-15 07:22 AM
Kid Rock doesn't have any classics. He's PWT who exploited black culture only to reveal his true colors by playing up to the worst instincts of working class and rural whites.

But if Beyonce said that in a magazine, I'd say, well she isn't lying. But why is she even entertaining this shit? The fuck does Kid Rock have to do with Beyonce's next project?

It isn't so much that I want to defend Beyonce, as much as I think Kid Rock is a jackass.

Posted by SimplyHannah, Sat Feb-28-15 07:55 AM
That joint with Cheryl Crow. But honestly that song could have had any male country artist on it, and it wouId have still done numbers.

But the comment is just in poor taste. It's in very poor taste to criticize a peer that is more accomplished than you are. To criticize her for the same things he lacks? Nah not here for it. But mofos will jump on the anti Beyonce bandwagon just b/c its Beyonce and they dont agree with or understand her appeal.

If that's the case folks must not care for 85% of these popstars because theyre making the same type of " substance-less " music. Besides like lady GaGa, who else is doing what Beyonce does on that level? None of em.

12738306, I don't even like her music, and this shit irks me.
Posted by Lardlad95, Sat Feb-28-15 08:01 AM
I mean that genuinely. I like 1 song by Destiny's Child ("Say My Name", what can I say, it's a nice catchy pop song) and after that I wouldn't listen to Beyonce sing unless she was giving me the Marilyn Monroe birthday special.

However, just because I don't like her music, that doesn't mean I find it necessary to go out of my way to denigrate her career. It just feels like those losers ranting about Justin Beiber on youtube. Unless you're an 11 year old girl, why would you waste energy on that either way?

Beyonce isn't making music for Kid Rock, his key demo, or to make revolutionary, thought provoking songs that push the sonic boundary. She's making pop music for a diverse group of women and, let's be honest, gay men. If you're expecting more than that from her you are either unfamiliar with her career to date, or you're just being an asshole.

It would be like me getting mad at U2 for never making a good jazz song.

U guys are so amped to dance on Beyonce (and believe me, that's NOT the issue here...people should be allowed to criticize Yonce....I did so just weeks ago when I started that Beyonce-Selma Grammy post), that u r burying the lede...

While y'all r shaking them pom-poms, Rock is skating on the fact that dude is a classic culture vulture who has basically turned into a new age Ted Nugent....

This dude is a walking Zebra (movie reference) to an even more negative degree who discarded hip-hop when it no longer served its use....

But even more disturbing, Rock has become the new mascot for the Obama hating Far Right beyond the politics...Dude is giving dap to Palin, Nugent and Hank Williams Jr, talks about how he loves white chicks over black chicks (no harm in that) BUT has a black baby mama and dated black chicks when he became famous....

Connect 'dem dots, Y'all....Fuck Kid Rock.....

He isnt much different than Beyonce when she does pop trash but pulls a "my daddy sang this song" to steal that Selma shine.

Reminds me of Palin when she was talking about admiring Obama's rise before she was picked to be VP.

What 'Yonce did was more on some Prom Queen GREEDY ASS, Selfish CHICK shit....That cannot be connected to the stunt Rock is pulling...

Basically, dude's true nature has come out....His pop would routinely use the N word around him and criticize why he was doing this black hip-hop shit since he raised him on Nugent, "Sweet Home Alabama" and the like....

Rock is now on his Uncle Cracker shit (clever, right?)

Why can the dude have his own political views and position? Who said that a person has to stay in the same lane their whole life?

And when did his opinion about a basic talent R&B singer turn into a political and personal inditement against his character?

U serious, dog?....lol

We all evolve....As I've gotten older I'm a lot more conservative in various aspects of my life...

But me thinking that kids should pull their pants up does not mean I'm going to be on some Dr. Ben Carson is right! shit....It's not going to compel me to say that the Affordable Care Act, which I'm sure some politically minded folks have REAL beef with, is as bad as slavery...

So yeah, when I hear a white boy who came in the music industry worshiping black culture, HAS A BLACK BABY MAMA, DJ'd black parties in Detroit, has black co-signs galore, was rolling with Too Short, and just nearly a decade ago was onstage with Jay Z rocking out on '99 Problems has now transformed into Ted Nugent, yeah, his politics matter....

Ted Nugent is not OUR friend. Ted Nugent would call u a nigger to your face and then strum a couple of licks of "Scratch Cat Fever"....

>And when did his opinion about a basic talent R&B singer turn
>into a political and personal inditement against his
>character?

Ahhh....u fell for that trap. U harping on Rock talking about B's MUSIC....And I'm talking about the fact that the same dude that had his nose wide open on black chicks, hip-hop culture, ect and felt compelled to say that he dug white chicks more than black women, which is hilarious given his past with black chicks...

Nah dog. The code words are all there. Hell, even him name checking "Sweet Home Alabama" is dog whistling like a mug...lol

But like I said I'm going to let u stay stuck on a few words on what Rock thinks about a peer's music and continue to let the contents of that entire interview go over your head....

you are reading too much into the matter.

KR made a comment about Beyonce's discography and you along with other's are turning the matter into a cultural, political, semi-racial issue.

The only thing missing is religion.. This is crazy how wrapped-up into this people have become.

It's not that serious.

Kid Rock doesn't put food on my table. Beyonce has never put gas in my car.

You're right, it isn't THAT serious.

But not being a life and death issue, and Kid Rock being innocent of using racially coded language aren't the same thing.

It's just another marker in his turn towards right wing asshole.

Mike Huckabee talked shit about her too, and while I don't really care about his opinion, that shit did go into system storage as another example of the ways white media love to denigrate black people.

Kid Rock is a mediocre artist. Beyonce is a mediocre artist. So neither one of them are special, but at least Beyonce didn't ape country music to get famous and then turn around and shit on rural white people once she got famous singing R&B, the way Kid Rock got famous off of hip-hop and the turned towards trashy rock and redneck culture complete with veiled racism.

lol....

Nah...Kid is quite mediocre.......He is the essence of mediocrity....At least with Beyonce u can say she sings A LOT better than a lot of R&B/Pop chicks beyond some of her "mediocre" material....

Rock?...dude was always a marginal rapper, DJ, and guitarist who got by because he was "down"...Dude was all gimmick....

In fact, Rock was on that VERY mediocre Nickleback status before he ran into the arms of the Good 'Ol Boy country music circuit (which BTW, go hand in hand with his politics...)

But all this^^^is moot since it takes away from the real issues with Kid Rock....
12738483, I've seen him live, he's very mediocre.

I think u have me confused with someone else.....

The reason u didn't see me respond to PoppaGeorge is because I didn't want to get into some discussion about how far Kid Rock's ghetto pass goes back....

In fact, I made it a point to say that his views on Beyonce's MUSIC is not the problem....I could care less that he thinks she's an overrated artist....

I think I've been pretty consistent with my underlining point and I don't have to have Rock's personal data in front of me to make any connection....

Whether Rock was or wasn't DJing in the 'hood and has a Trick Trick co-sign was never part of any point I've been making....

All I know is you can learn a lot from a person from their own words AND the company they keep....

Posted by mistermaxxx08, Sun Mar-01-15 01:27 PM
he has some talent and he been around a minute still he does nothing for me as a artist though he will try his hand in different styles from time to time.

and ones poltiics etc... is a seperate issue from there music, etc.

as for Beyonce she is one of the ten most overrated artists ever and while she has talent, she sings about the most wackest things.

her voice is wasted on alot of subpar material and she does have that "IT" and I will say she has been the most important Black cross over Artist over the past decade and change, however ain't much been memorable IMO.

Beyonce needs a Candi Station "young hearts RIde Free" type of cut in her catelog and then i might sorta understand half the hype.

anyone who flies that confed flag is a racist who minimizes slavery (IMO)

never liked him or his "music"...even when he had that little midget sidekick...always came across like some white trash rap that river rats were into, along with ICP.

i could give two fucks if he can beat box, play instruments, pop lock on a piece of cardboard, or if he knows what to do with an aerosol can.

i hate that he somehow still gets to represent the D (when ESPN let him narrate that Bad Boys 30 for 30? *CRINGE*)

I guess everyone plays organ in this case
His drumming on Watermelon Man is a time-keeping exercise with the non-stop kick-drum.
We can all do that with basic rhythm.
I guess I should say he didn't play any instrument "well".
U right tho, he had the balls to get behind one.

I'd say the point here is that Kid Rock would be talking shit about James Brown too,
in regards to instruments, if they were contemporaries, so the criticism is silly.
